Description Sorry about the name, I just couldn't think anymore.

Advanced critique encouraged, as well as fullview. And if (for some reason) anyone wants this in 4:3 aspect ratio, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.

Right... so... That's it.

EDIT: As per some suggestions, I've made the secondary lightsource's effects more consistent from planet to planet, as well as adjusting the brightness of the planetary rings and the position of the nearest planet. Anyone see anything else that could use some fixing?

hmm i was just asking , as there is a nebula that looks like this one far far away, and it sits on the belt of Orion.

Holy shit, you're nuts !
The rings on the upper planet are good to see and have some asteroids visible and the nebula is just.....omg ! Dude, you're giving me some inspiration .

Bit dark for my screen but it's great. Neb could be a lot larger.

bloknayrb In reply to PlasmaX7 [2007-10-08 16:08:29 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Originally it was larger, but I was having a little trouble with the shape, and when I finally got it to something reasonable, it was this big. I guess you can't win em all.

Chromattix [2007-10-08 06:09:15 +0000 UTC]

The nebula looks great, I can really tell theres a star among a ring of dust which here is partly blocking the light, and the colour of the ringed planet is a nice change as well. Since you asked, the only crit I have is that the backlight on the near planet is much stronger than on the ringed one, perhaps weaken the intensity of the back glow on the near one.

That's a good point... Gonna fix, thanks a lot!

think you got your technique down and you're well aware of lighting, but to make this more of an interesting image I think composition could be reviewed.

look at how other people make their images visually intriguing

I have to say I agree with you. Usually I try to make my images more balanced (with varying degrees of success), but in this case I was also looking to have space for me to put google gadgets in places where they wouldn't be blocking anything... However, I think that as a result of your suggestion I should make a more balanced version for posting. Thanks a lot for the tip.

Looks good

Only crit... would be that the rings are a little hard to see on the upper planet...

bloknayrb In reply to SiathLinux [2007-10-07 21:26:35 +0000 UTC]

I hear that, but I was kind of going for very faint rings there. Guess it worked
