The actual title for this picture was supposed to be 'Midnight Conversations,' but I could not for the LIFE of me fit it into the eensy Deviation Title space provided.Anyway, this is L + Mello as commissioned by . I LOVE L + MELLO and it was an incredibly awesome excuse to draw this picture! More finished commission work will be coming soon, actually! I messed-up on one of the larger pieces and have to outright redo it [driving, terrible shame;], but here we have THIS piece done-!

She originally commissioned me for tight inkwork only, which has a discount in my commissions section if you're commissioning Death Note pairings... but when I failed to create the right atmosphere with inks alone, I ended-up doing some simple CG finishing work at the end there.

I'm a big fan of L/Mello at all times, because I'm a pervert XD But yes- adult Mello and L is spectacular to me, and will always be a pairing close to my heart.

Mello is my favorite pairing for L. Light doesn't even seem vaguely interesting compared to Mello for an L pairing.

This picture!! I can't believe I stumbled across the person who did this by chance! That fanfiction on which this picture is based is one of my favorites of ALL TIME, and I remember being linked to this picture and thinking how gorgeous it was! I adore L/Mello too.... one of my personal favorite pairings.... This is amazing, great work, I can't believe I stumbled across this picture again <3

I really love you for making this!!!! this is a unique pairing, which might as well be true. I love Mello's affection toward L. and the best part is, unlike Near, Mello has really seen L before in person TwT (when L told Mello about the BB murder cases) I want to think that picture as a day, when Mello and L met in person and had a talk

Awesome. I keep forgetting how much I love this pairing, but it's really one of my favourites. Such a unique, precious, perfect dynamic, and I think that really comes through in this picture.

/;3; Yeah, it's one of those really lovely but under-represented pairs...! I'm gonna' try not to get up on my soap box about this, but... I really think that Mello's relationship with L, at the very least how it's portrayed in the manga and in the BB novel, seems to be the only genuinely, wholly positive relationship he has in all of DN. He genuinely respects, idolizes and cares for L, and he has the type of personality that would quickly rotate into hatred and resentment if his love and respect was not well received so... since he doesn't resent L at all, we can safely assume that L never gave him reason to feel that his positive feelings weren't being validated [with night time stories about the BB murder case and L's past and all sorts of other things that make me smile, even if that's twisted stuff to share with a child β₯].

I think so too! L really does seem to be Mello's idol and it's obvious that when he dies it hurts Mello so much. I always thought that Mello walking out of Wammy's and starting his life all over again couldn't really be explained without turning to his feelings for L. To me that shows a really deep connection, a bond that goes beyond simple admiration. Mello needed L, and so losing him sends him completely off the rails. I also agree with your interpretation of L's attitude towards Mello. Although L isn't naturally inclined towards social relationships and doesn't entirely understand what's appropriate, I think that he tried as hard as he could, and showed Mello respect and compassion. It just... it melts me. Completely. It could have been so perfect. ;______;

And actually, as far as that... I think that Mello is probably the one who's more aggressively in pursuit of the relationship, but whether he's from the Wammy House era or grown-up, I think that perhaps he respects L too much to 'take liberties' with him unless he's got express permission to do so. I dunno, that's just how it feels to me... XD But I rather like it either way! β₯
