Description Another view of Chicago.
I had a hard time calling this "finished", I might still peck at this.

Acrylic on 48x36" canvas.

This is cool. It's so hard to get a good birds eye composition down. You did a really nice job with it.

This is acrylic? You're outstanding!
And I mean it, OUT STANDING. I capitalize it like that because I've -never- seen someone handle paint like you do - and you stand out!

It's so out of the norm to see that much detail in such a normal setting. Living in Chicago, its natural beauty is not something that I take enough time to appreciate. You bring out the art in such simple things..like the smooth curve of the street lights and the faded paint on the asphalt. You really rock for that!
Star-quality work, I wouldn't be surprised if you make it really big someday.

-Kay!

MG: that scene looks really familiar. I went to chicago march of this year for the first time to apply for school at american academy of art. that building to the left wouldn't happen to be a Utrecht art store would it? because that scene looks like south michigan avenue.

very nice work btw

the perspective in this piece is quite interesting, as is a nice but not overwhelming amount of detail. a very appealing painting overall.

Just amazing how well you handle acrylics...I used acrylics a few times but I just can't get it to look they way other artists make it look.

I especially love this painting because the angle is very interesting. The people are very well done, can't believe the details and accuracy!

Thank you very much!

I think acrylics can be handled very differently and yet successfully. It took me a long time to feel out acrylics and discover how best to apply them to create the effect I want...and I know others use acrylics differently than I do. If you are interested in persuing acrylics, I would encourage you to do so and not worry if your technique is exactly the same as another artist's. Eventually you'll find your own way to use them.

I've done quite a few acrylic paintings but probably not enough to really get in touch with the media. I sit in front of the computer way more often than at my art table due to my job. I wished I had more time for traditional art like I used to. Unfortunately traditional illustrators are not needed as much anymore that's why I'm forced to improve my skills in digital art, it's the future.....

However, I'm passionate about traditional art and I enjoy discovering great traditional artists like you! Very inspiring indeed!

this piece is wonderful. you found a very impressive perspective, and you found a way to incorporate the "feeling" of the common street scene. so, the result of your eye, your hand and your colors is among the very best.

Beware "pecking" or "fiddling" as I call it. Almost a sure fire way of turning a decent piece into a total clusterfuck in mere seconds.

That bus really is awesome. The perspectives look great on the signposts.

You are entirely too hard on yourself. This is a beautiful, eyecatching piece that lends a new perspective to the average street corner. I love how everything feels like it's in motion, and you can almost catch yourself wondering where the various people are off to.... who's riding in that bus? etc. Lovely work m'dear.

i really like the grid-orientation you have found in the streets. your strokes are precise and consistant. i also like how each each hunk of cement has its own identity, its own pattern that discerns itself from the others. i really love this, therefore i will fav
