A myth from Urth's early history.

Grendel is a giant, referred to as a mountain of flesh, the fusion of primal might and the intoxicating energies of the magic-ridden ocean, likely result of the age-old Cataclysm. Only once was he ever seen on a massive scale, coincidentally in time with the abrupt end to the once expansive elvish empire across the Weald. Why he targeted the elves specifically is unclear, perhaps they heard of his titanic might and wished to control it for their own needs, or perhaps he had heard of their warmongering and decided to put an end to their tyranny. Whatever the case, onlookers experienced the clash of the two most powerful entities on the planet, resulting in death and destruction on an unprecedented scale.

After purging the thought of world domination from the minds of the elves, Grendel returned to the sea of whence he came, leaving a legend in his wake.
