after seeing a mantis shrimp, i had to find a fakemon of it and this is the ONLY one that i say it pinpoints on it and looks like a pokemon still. greatness is what you achieved!

"It can see far beyond the visible spectrum, even able to see its foes' auras."
"With its exceptional vision, it accurately lands strikes in less than the blink of an eye." Just some ideas.

I absolutely LOVE this design and the color schemes used as well. and being a water-type trainer I would gladly want to have this on my team!
Btw, you and Trueform both game me a new idea for Mantic as an attack since I have an astral plane theme going on. Maybe I could fix it up somehow so it could correspond directly with this Fakemon as well. Ugh this is going to be complicated lol

I like how it turned out it looks amazing! Im just trying to figure out how I could use that attack and make it not too overpowered or something but Im sure I will figure it out! If you have any suggestions though fel free cuz Im kinda at a standstill LOL.

Hmm well if it's a move relating to the astral plane perhaps a psychic version of substitute but with slightly different effects, since there is bo need for a complete copy of substitute (everyone can learn it) I'll let you know if I think of anything better hopefully that doesn't suck xD

I actually have another another attack that does that already it's basically like substitute but a bit different. that's why im having a hard problem thinking of something to use with mantic. I want it to deal with it though or at least some type of amazing psychic move.

Hahaha, a huge improvement! I love that wry smile of his, the squinted eyes and the jutting teeth. He's got a lot of character that now isn't overwhelmed by extraneity.

As far as Pokémon complexity goes, I usually use the "Gyarados Rule", meaning if the Pokémon looks more complex than Gyarados, it needs to be toned down. I understand some legendaries like Palkia, Dialga, Giratina, Reshiram, and Zekrom might be considered -the- most complex, but they are legendaries. Gyarados is, in my opinion, the most detailed non-legendary Pokémon, though I understand that's an arguable point. As such, I think the best Pokémon designs are those that manage to stay at or below Gyarados' level of detail.
So, some key Mantis Shrimp traits:
• Segmented body
• Hammer claws
• Feathered mustache
• Stalk eyes
• Blue-Cyan/Red/Yellow/Green color scheme
The leopard print arms (blood cell print imo) is too much. The segmented body is really nice and the tail fin, albeit a bit detailed, is a great addition. You've kinda got this shamrock thing going, seen in blue on the tail fin and in red on his head crest. This is strong. Ahh! I noticed you actually updated the design. I was about to critique the crescent markings on its head when I realized what you replaced those with blends in a lot better. The stalk eyes have the horizontal slits characteristic of the mantis shrimp, however you've overlaid them with pupils. Too much. The claw pearls might be too much as well, unless disguised as red.
Anywho, that's all I got for now. It's definitely improving, and I want this to work as much as any other Mantis Shrimp fanatic. Great animal, great Pokémon potential. Water/Fighting is definitely the best typing as well. Again, I may just give this a shot of my own. Peace!

Awesome seriously you're amazing this is just the kinda thing I need if I'm gonna improve at this, and that gyarados thing is gold I'll always keep it in mind thanks ^^ for the record he is one of my favourite pokemon xD
Got the body down, the hammer claws, the mostache (though missing the large extravagant feathers), the stalk eyes though I gave them pupils cause the animal itself has those dots and I've grown fond of interesting insect eyes in pokemon, though someone else did something similar it was big rounded eyes on a bug all green but still had the inner pupil, just ignored giving it separate colouring and it looked awesome so I'll see without the pupils, hopefully it'll still give the same expression. I can compromise on the pattern to make it a little less split cause it's like you can stand someone wearing leopard or zebra print but then if they wear both you want to annihilate them lol, I don't think I mind the orbs but I dunno based on the complexity of the colouring I could probably make them red, I wanna use as few colours as possible while still making it look slightly beautiful. Overall amazing feedback and tysm ^^ I hope you'll stick around :3

The Mantis Shrimp has been one of my favorite animals for a long time. Years ago I tried to make a Mantis Shrimp Fakemon and where I failed was the complexity. I see the same problem in this design. The Mantis Shrimp is identified by its many characteristics, I understand how detailed a creature it is. If some, or even one of these is removed, it could be hard to distinguish as a Mantis Shrimp.
However, Snorlax is a bear and Diglett is a mole. I'd wager you could pull off a better design if you simplify this. Try merging some traits with one another. All in all, this is a much better design than the one I made. Perhaps I'll give this challenge a shot as well. We can do this!
