Description This is one of those OCs who begins as just an image in my head, and the personality and all will come later. The drawing didn't come out that great, but at least I finally got something down, since I've been thinking of this girl for months. I was picturing a latina girl maybe 15-17years old with black nail polish, high-waisted shorts, and cute little sneakers.

I think a bit of spunky personality appeared in this, maybe? We'll see. Any name suggestions are welcome! I want to refine her and put her into a family of werewolves. So far my werewolf characters (Warren, Sam, Drew) are all based around the idea or trope of the lone wolf, especially Warren. But real wolves are social and live in family groups, so I'd like to have some werewolves that more accurately reflect the behavior of actual wolves.

(The face is pretty cartoony in this one because I haven't worked out her features yet and I was having trouble drawing something realistic that I was satisfied with.)

Oh, I like those! I might use them for a different character, but I'll keep them in mind!

Lupé seems to fit, and of course Villalobos is clearly a werewolf surname So my suggestion would be Lupé Maria Villalobos y Ochoa (with the second surname being that of the mother's family).

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been thinking about my reply to this comment for awhile XD At first I thought using a bunch of obviously wolf-related names would be too much (not realistic), but since I'm planning on having this character be part of a big family of werewolves, going back generations, the parents probably really would use wolf names in the family. I've doodled the character a few more times in the last few days too and I'm suddenly really attached to the name Lupé, so I might go with it. Thanks!

I like her and she does seem spunky to me. I took 3 years of Spanish and names (as well as most of the infernal language xD) escape me. I like to give my Russian characters somewhat unusual names for the sake of symbolism, but I like to play with symbols and Russian is a very wishy washy flexible language. Spanish maybe not as much.

Haha I took spanish 3-12 and finally finished last year in college. But I never learned that much about names so it doesn't really help me here. It's always tough for me since I like symbolism in names but I also like to name my character such that they seem like they could be real people, so I don't want to have too many with names that are selected for meaning - since in real life, your name's meaning might not fit you. But I'll keep doing research.

You use animal symbols for some of your characters, right? I think that's cool; I always like to associate my characters with a color, flower, animal, etc... some kind of motif.

Hah, I tend to follow in the tracks of Pasternak and Dostoevsky with regards to "realistic names." In the sense that I don't really try for realism anymore xD It's a tradition in Russian writing anyway for characters to sometimes have rather unrealistic names. For instance, Dostoevsky literally names one of his characters "shatterer" and he's the rebel of the story. Then Pasternak just kinda names his characters whatever because none of the Russian names in that story really seem realistic. His character, Yura, has a very unusual surname that derives from the Slavic root for "life." So in a similar sense, I kinda have the most unrealistically named characters at times haha. Popugaev is the most extreme case. It is common for Russian names to be based on animals, particularly birds, but the Russian word for parrot is a Portuguese loan word, so the old Slavic rooted names don't make a lot of sense compared to Popugaev's name. Still, I decided to keep it for creative reasons and because it also kinda sounds like the Russian word for "harass" or "bully." Russian authors take advantage of the language's very flexible morphology to make some very clever names, I think.

Oh, Spanish hah... never again. I got to year 3 and got hit with 10 verb tenses and gave up xD Please give me my Russian with it's 3 verb tenses, 2 moods, and two verb aspects that are easy to remember. It has 6 grammar cases and 3 declension styles, but those start to become easy to hear and intuit after a while. I'll never understand why languages need more than 5 verb tenses. That goes for English, too, haha.

Haha. Well, it's definitely easier to just pick names that relate to the character without worrying about the realism. Ah, that's really cool! It's even better when you can get a double meaning out of a name. ^^

Well, for a long time Spanish was the only foreign language I could take in school, so I just stuck with it. Now that I'm done with the requirements though I don't plan on continuing or doing another language. True, all those tenses were a handful. XD

I could see Angelica maybe? Or something like Amelia?

Oh, I like those! Mike's younger sister is already named Amelia but I can save Angelica for a future character!
