Just been playing around with this katana I made ages ago. Nothing amasing yet, but it'll get there eventually. I recon it needs a lot more detail. Criticizm welcome. Its based on the Bankai from Bleach, hence the manji on the End Cap and Tsuba.Related content

the shape of a traditional katana handle is almost more like a rounded diamond then a strict oval, also the same (stingray skin) beneath the wrap is covered in hunders of bumps (imagine 10 grit sandpaper that was about 4-6mm thick). The knot at the bottom wouldn't hold a tight bind in the wrap. A good example of the knot used can found found at [link] thought the image is relitively small. However overall it is very niftty, it took me a sec to realize it was computer done. Good luck

Hey cheers for the heads up. Generally im a stickler for the details, but this time I guess I was more concerned with learning Maya than following the reference material. If im feeling inspired, i might go back and fix it up some time. I should really buy my own Katana anyhow...

dude i dont know how you made the rope but its great. maybe rough it up a little more so it looks less alligator skinlike, but it looks fine now.
