Description Flame Song is a quad suit. That means she is a costume, not a plush. That's me in there. She is actually pretty comfortable, except for being hot as heck, even by mascot suit standards. You sweat buckets. The stilts are quite nice though, and there's not really any back strain involved.

I do take commissions for quad suits too. If it's here in the gallery, I probably will make it for money. Just know that my work doesn't come cheap.

To answer "how do you make this" I would have to write a novel. Which I'm not willing to do for free, I have better uses for my time, sorry. I suggest you google "quadsuit tutorial" "fursuit tutorial" and other such related subjects.

How do you get into the suit? What is the base made out of?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladespark In reply to dragonicwolf [2010-09-19 02:45:58 +0000 UTC]

You get in through a zipper on the back. The base... *shrug* Mostly foam. Lots of other things too.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

dragonicwolf In reply to Bladespark [2010-09-19 04:12:45 +0000 UTC]

What do you put the foam itself on? or is the entire thing held together by foam and you are slipping into a foam 'suit'?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladespark In reply to dragonicwolf [2010-09-19 09:03:19 +0000 UTC]

There's a spandex suit that the foam attaches to.

I'm curious as to how you managed to deal with the heat in such warm suits. I've kind of got the same issue with my semi plushie fox one that I'm slowly still working on. I have an idea I'm going to try but it won't be for a while till it'll be finished.

Love the look. Kind of has me wanting to try making a quad suit of my own. Only problem is I have no line drawing figure to draft things out from.

Bladespark In reply to JimFoxyBoy [2010-06-29 02:20:04 +0000 UTC]

Mostly I just do short stints. I've never worn the suit for more than an hour at a time or so.

JimFoxyBoy In reply to Bladespark [2010-06-29 04:59:33 +0000 UTC]

Without a little help, it gets quite a bit warm for me when I get mine put on by myself. Though I found that if I chill the suit down a little bit before putting it on, it kind of helps with the heat for the first little bit then I'm fine. Been a little reluctant to wear it at any of the local meets, mostly because with so many people around, the house tends to warm up a lot.

Do you work from a line drawing of a body when you plane things out? And if so, any chance you could send me a copy or at least tell me where a good one of such acan be found?

I just sketch up my own. I've got some design diagrams:

Mostly though I work with a dummy. This for example:

Nice! where do you get your fur? How much did this cost you to make?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladespark In reply to Wood-Splitter-Lee [2010-06-14 20:23:53 +0000 UTC]

I bought the fur for this from Montery Mills, though they only sell in bulk, so most people buy it through www.crscrafts.com. It probably has a couple hundred dollars of supplies in it.

They're $2,200. And I do take payments, you just need to put $400 down up front, and can pay the rest however you like.

what i want to know is how you did that without it looking uber alkward. what is on your legs and arms and how does it look when you walk. ive been trying to make a quad suit myself.. and i just cant figure it out. did you have someone help you?
with the fitting and stuff?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Bladespark In reply to cinnibon [2008-11-19 04:15:01 +0000 UTC]

I made a duct tape dummy of myself to fit it to, actually. Much easier than trying to have somebody else fit it to me! Particularly as you can pin things to a dummy, and use hot glue on the suit while the dummy is in it, while I don't think I'd like being poked with pins and burned with hot glue.

If you'd like to see how my quad suits move, there's a video of the second quad suit I made, being worn by its new owner (not me, I was commissioned for it) here: [link]
