Description These are various hands, which still have the structure to them. It should be pretty much self explanatory.

I've included a cheat for a foreshortened hand. basically you just draw the palm in bubble then add on the fingers. It's actually really simple and easy. You can figure out several poses just from the doodle I've made.

I have the outstretched palm, which you'll often see in comics. This often gets so exaggerated that it's often rendered in a way that's not quite anatomically correct. But, in comic books, that's not really the point. The point is to exaggerate and convey the point. It's a hand, so that's all you need to know, and you turn the next page to read more panels. For more correct versions of this pose see Burn Hogarth's Books, or see: [link] [link] (NOTE: These are Male Human hands)

I've also included various fist drawings. I referenced allot from the artist Jim Lee's style whom is known for his exaggeration of human figures in poses and in motion or expression. He tends to elongate feet, legs, the torso, and arms which is typical of Comic book art.

I'd actually like to welcome questions. So, if you have any please voice it. There's nothing wrong about asking, and there's no stupid questions.

Do you have any other comic-book style tutorials/how-to's, or do you only have hand studies?

Nice hands XD Does Jim Lee have any how-to books out there? Also, if I were to show you a hand pose that I'm trying to imitate, would you be able to set up the basic structure for me please?

That's why I made the cheat sheets, to help people practice something over & over until they get it.

try the one with the folded fingers. that SOOOOOO easy!

Of some reason I have the greatest problem with hands. I like focusing on faces the most, that's probably why. I always link a person and their name together with their face, otherwise I'd forget it 8D

love the way you draw hands.

i'm trying to draw a character, facing me, right hand in his pocket, left hand by his side, holding a gun.

now i can draw guns, but can't draw the grip of the hand. i suck at it.

any tips??

Try acting out out in a mirror.

Any good animator will do that, and have a mirror on hand with them just for that purpose.

I still have no idea why this one is the most popular of my hand cheats. And, it's just some sketches slapped onto a white background. But, everyone likes it.

I prefer the best presents in paper bags. The wrapping is just fluff to me.

What you put down was a great concept nomatter how aesthetic it is or isn't. It works. Period.
