Description
From opening day World War II to final months of hostilities in the European theatre of World War II. Poland provided significant contributions to the Allied effort throughout the war, fighting on land, sea and air. Estimates vary, but more than five million Polish citizens were killed during the war, perhaps as much as 17% of the population, including up to three million Polish Jews murdered by the Germans in the Holocaust. by End of war Polish Army in the West had 254,830 men with many choosing to remain in exile rather than to return to communist-controlled Poland after the war.
