I asked because the Dutch national anthem (Wilhelmus van Nassouwe) has the line "..of German blood"

nice close up, on a techincal aspect I wonder if f/27 was necessary, f/16 should have been enough and might have get you better results in terms of sharpness ..

You're probably right, Guillaume, but at the time I was using a manual only flash and had to adjust the aperture to match the light (I was too lazy to change the flash output on the Metz!). Now I use a iTTL capable flash and adjust the flash compensation on the camera instead. On my old MicroNikkor I don't see much difference in sharpness from f/11 to f/22 in macro mode though. At 1:1 the lens is closer to a 60mm and gets down to f/54!

guillaume-dauphin In reply to biawak [2009-05-21 10:17:49 +0000 UTC]

wow f/54 !!! jeez never heard about closing that much

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

biawak In reply to guillaume-dauphin [2009-05-21 10:30:29 +0000 UTC]

It's actually the same aperture as f/22. Thehole did not get any smaller but since the lens gets longer physically but shorter in theory (closer to 60mm), the camera tells me it's f/54!

I cannot say I'm familiar with such a unique spider as this... (then again, what spider--despite my disgust with the creatures--is not completely unigue and beautiful in a way all of its own?) This has got to be one of the more interesting, aesthetically specimins I've seen.

I like the way it's 'hugging' the stem. It looks so secure, latched on like that.

That thing is going to haunt my dreams for the rest of my life... I love "bugs" including spiders, but I am terrified of spiders! but I was so curious about the pic, and now... :: le sigh :: I will be haunted in my dreams.

I do have a qustion though... where do those reside and are they venomous?

xx Miitch
