Do you guys even know how tempting it was to name this "a glorified depiction of the music life" ????? Playing an instrument will be the death of me...

My concept was centered around one single quote in Lumi's story: "Although Lumi lost her voice, she’s never blamed Aria for it but what saddens her more is the fact that Aria is never around." This girl's story is so tragic (akdlf;askf), so I wanted to present that in a way that was not necessarily angsty (because that's mean)? When you think about it, loneliness is probably something that everyone can identify with during at least one point in life, which made it an easy topic to understand. Hopefully a bit of the message shows here.

That said, my frame of thought on this actually became "this is basically what it feels like trying to study an instrument when you are constantly aware of the prodigy sitting in front of you," and then to "this is what it feels like to study an instrument" to "this is what it feels like to study, minus the roses." It may also be notable that I drew this usually right after either doing homework or practicing cello, and considering how much I spread out the process, there was a. lot. of. "studying." How deep. Go figure \ (o w o) /

Kind of a long story behind this drawing... But simply put, I failed to deliver what I wanted to on my first try, so I wanted another shot. Although I will say, I'm a bit late, as always. (slow snail strikes agan~~~)

That said, this is the most tedious drawing I have done. NOT SAYING it wasn't fun, but it was sooooooo long. I gave up trying to think about the amount of time I spent here,
              from the sketch (anatomy???)
                              to the lines (h a i r o h m y g o d)
                                              to the background (details -- nopenopenope)
                                                                         to my newly-evolved even-weirder coloring (yep).
                                                                                                        And then there's Piku-chan's awesomely detailed design 8D

Anyway, To Mayomie:
Thank you so much for your patience, kindness, and understanding. I've heard sooo many horror stories about the art world, whether they be from the perspective of the artist or the commissioner/other side of a trade/etc. and you were awesome enough to not turn this into one.
Also, your characters -- the girls are gorgeous and the guys are handsome and I love them all aldkfja;ldkfjd;ladsf -- not to mention they've go interesting stories //shot

LunarInfinity for base coloring hair while I was dying in a hole~
mauururu for teaching me how to draw/paint a wooden floor. It saved the atmosphere of this whole piece ;;w;;
Hyanna-Natsu , SmexyViButt , SP-Nova , metaluca for letting me study their work, and providing advice -- I would have been (even more) lost as to all the mistakes I couldn't pinpoint (and because of that, couldn't have fixed).
