Description Ooh, watch out, bad guys...!

This is probably the third version I've drawn of the same thing. The others have not seen daylight, nor will they.

Yes, it's Sherlock Holmes (what else have I been drawing lately, anyway? -.-). I'm drawing quite random stuff now since I still haven't made up my mind about certain artistic projects involving SH.

Before you say anything - yes, I'm aware the two men do not cast a shadow on him even though they shade the wall quite marvellously. Why, pray tell? Because I lack the skills and the energy. I tried, though, but it just didn't look good at all. So there.

I do quite like this, no matter what.

Holmes (C) Conan Doyle.

If only it had worked in Illustrious Client. Great picture here.

As awesome as Holmes is, it's hard to believe that Doyle was even MORE awesome than the character he created.

Hahaha! Excellent. Holmes looks so smug, like he's thinking, "These poor devils don't stand a chance." I especially like the raised eyebrow.

Looks marvellous! I hadn't even noticed that the shadows don't fall on Holmes until you mentioned it.

To make the shadows fall on both the wall as well as Holmes, you could have put them in a seperate layer, just black on transparent, put that on top all other layers, and play around with opacity.

The shadows actually are on a different layer but the problem occurred when I tried to think how the shadows would fall on Holmes... I mean, they would be "twisted", wouldn't they, according to the curves of his arms and shirt and all? I failed to imagine how the shadows would behave in said circumstances naturally and so it kinda fell apart...

Oooh, I see. That is a tricky one, yes. I think they would follow the sort of cylindrical shape of the arms, as you say, but I find it a bit hard to imagine too.

Though, I think it's a good idea to have left them out then. This way the attention isn't drawn to it. If you had put the shadows there and they would have been wrong, it would have been easier to notice, I guess.

That's probably true. Better to leave out than to ruin the whole thing.

I like the impending drama of your idea! I'd think twice if I were one of those bad guys! Faving.

Ah, a streetlight... an excellent excuse.
