I recall John Buscema's rendition of this scene on one of his early issues of the Conan the Barbarian comic that Marvel was putting out in my youthful days of the mid-1970s. It was rather unique in its day to have the main character of an American comicbook go through something like that. Nowadays, crucifixion is the least of a hero's ordeals in mainstream comics...
Quite well-rendered. Conan looks ready to bust his way out of there. He isn't going down for anyone!

I read this story as a kid in one of those oversized editions Marvel put out in the 70's and 80's. I'll never forget how stirring and powerful the art and story was (to me). This art perfectly captures the vitality and visceral nature ofthat work.
