Description Here is today's 'model of the day'

Took around 3 hours. This is the M1 Garand rifle. It was heavily used in WWII as an infantry weapon and shot .30-06 cartridges. I have attempted to recreate an M1 from the early '40's.

The only main details missing are the clips along the bottom for the straps/bayonet.

I will be texturing and shading this model in the future.
Created with 3ds max.
Here was the main ref image:

Actually, I think redneck Americans generally stick to shotguns and assault rifles. This rifle (the M1 Garand) was created in the 1930's for military purposes. It was used heavily in WWII and proved its worth. It was used for decades after WWII in the military as well. General George Patton called it "the greatest battle implement ever devised." I used this model in my piece called "Unlikely Angels" which portrays an American soldier in WWII. So, this model was created because it is the historically accurate weapon for the project I was creating, not because I am an American and therefore by default must love all guns and be a redneck.

Thank you for taking the time to make such a wonderful critique, in the future my art will improve orders of magnitude because of it I am sure.

yea that was another one of the images I used quite a bit it was a very nice one for the bolt area but I had to grab some others for help w/ the front sight (side view), since it only showed it from the rear.
