Description My version of my favorite muscle car of all time, the 70 chevelle SS. It was the 5th fastest muscle car ever manufactured and the coolest by far.

The perfect car for my OC, Mikaela "Mikey" Crawford.

I share in your love of this car. It is my favorite all time. What you did reminds me of the new mustang, camaro, and challenger. Would be great to see your concept come to life with an LS-7, modern drivetrain, and contemporary rubber. Nice job!

Really love the matte texture on it rather than the usual shiny from cars. My car history is terrible. Is that how it was actually painted or is it an artistic interpretation? Either way I love it.

hey thanks! black matte was actually somewhat popular for painting muscle cars, people still paint their cars this way sometimes. Plus, I thought it looked way better for this 3d illustration : p.

I love the old, sepia-ish toned lighting and render, and the car's material looks great while showing off the details of it, which are very well done. The only thing the car's shader shows is a bit of a crease along the side of the door, and some creases on the back arch leading to the roof... Not that I woulda had any better luck in making it smoother, last time I made a car I had the exact same issues Overall, it really looks ace man.

yea i think i had one issue towards the rear of the car where i just said screw it and my topology caused a smoothing issue (cant remember but i think it was just a pole). I like to tell people it is the lighting though.

Very nice. But is it low poly or mid poly or high poly? Couse i can see sharp edges and i was just wondering.

BenCole In reply to Swinger76 [2008-08-26 21:47:26 +0000 UTC]

mid/high. the rendered model was smoothed significantly

BenCole [2008-08-25 03:48:54 +0000 UTC]

This was polygon modeled (similar to box modeling). I started with a single polygon (a plane instead of a box) along the rim of the front tire and extruded edges to create more polygons. After the shape was blocked in it was just traditional box modeling, moving vertices, extruding faces, etc.

This was made with 3ds max 9.

Do you do spline modeling or box modeling to create something like this? What program did you use to create?
