Some fanart for the Life of Pi movie
it was a great movie and actually made me sob a few times (because kitties getting hurt/upset/scared really gets me DD: even if they are CGI).Some spoilers below to explain my inspiration and the title for this artwork, you have been warned!
In the movie there is a part of the story that pushes beyond extraordinary story into the unreal. Pi comes across a carnivorous island covered in meercats. I personally think this is the moment when he is dreaming from succumbing to exposure/starvation/dehydration. which brought my thought process on to what Richard Parker (the tiger) would have a fever dream about if he was in the same state.

There is a bit of photoshopping in the boat reflection but the rest was painted from scratch :3 I was tying to emulate this moment in the movie and its color pallet: [link]

And yeah, that island was frikkin WEIRD.

I havent seen the movie, but the art you mix alone is very very prety. The mood... oh my goodness does it look gorgeus too!
The background and the sunlights tone almsot gives you sense of utopion fantasy/scifi world... and reminds me of the game joyrney... but much more realistic.

;n; I need to see this movie so bad!!! if you've read the book, could you tell me how close the movie keeps to it? from what I've heard it's pretty close. there are so many gruesome or disturbing scenes in the book, I was afraid the movie would awkwardly edge around them. D:

When I saw it, I thought that the carnivorous island was a metaphore of the moment he (the vegetarian) needed to do canibalism to survive in that boat. Because he said he becomes like the hyena in some point of the end.

Life Of Pi was a beautiful movie. A very sad but beautifully done movie. I loved Richard Parker.

ohgod during the storm scene when Pi was screaming to God and Richard parker was so scared I lost my shit. STOP IT PI YOU ARE SCARING THE KITTY

Right!? I cried so much especially when Richard Parker was too weak to do anything and Pi puts his head in his lap. The whole movie hit me right in the feels. x'D
