Nice, I think I saw another of your dolls before... an elf girl? I love your style of sculpting ^^
Could you possibly explain how to make the thigh joint? I've been searching and searching and I can't find anything on how it attaches on the inside >_< All I found was A picture, in the pukipuki manual online lol

thanks! I don't think it was mine, I haven't made an elf girl. :3
Thigh joints are a basic cup and socket joint. Have you looked at Noah's doll gallery tutorials?
On the inside of the lower torso where the legs attach there's a hole at the top of the cup and the elastic strings down through the top of the thigh. The better it's lined up the better the hip moves. Does that help?

OH! I know what you mean now. XD The hip joint is a lot like a knee joint, but reversed and hidden. All you see on the finished doll is the line for the joint and it built so that it's very square and locks into position. You don't want that joint to bend unless you specifically bend it, or else it looks like their leg is broken.

Hmm... I can see what you're saying, but still have no clue how it's constructed. Is it seperate-able when you unstring the doll, so I can see a picture? lol

It is, but I don't know when i'll have time to take any pictures. All the WIP shots of gamma are here: [link] so that might give you a better idea of what i mean. :3

Wait, I know you! XD I think I asked you about how you made your dolls from sculpy, like a year ago or something XD (Wow, can you tell I didn't go through your gallery again before posting?) Ah well, I still need answers, though I'm closer than last time to finishing a doll! lol

Very nice. I am quite jealous of your talent. How did you get into this? Was it a love of BJD mixed with magical sculpting abilities?

Thanks! I actually started making doll things when I was 12, but I was never happy with them. I wanted to create something aesthetically pleasing but also pose-able. I made fabric dolls for a while, but I wasn't satisfied with the level of detail I was getting. I liked action figures for the pose-ability but they are so often sculped so badly... When I first saw the bjds I was like, "OHHHHH... PERFECT". So I applied what i knew and started working on them. Gamma is probably the eighth doll I've worked on and the third I've actually cast.

was curious.. about how much does it cost to make one of these figures?

About as much as it costs to buy one? The silicone and resin alone is at least $300, sometimes more if I run low on silicone. Then there's the time involved. I've been working eight hour days on this guy. :/
