So far as anyone could tell, she was the undisputed monarch of the whole world. She'd fall, skin her knees, and command them to stop stinging. It may have worked, too... She read a great deal. She followed her mother like a shadow about the gardens.
I think I'm the only one who likes Anora. Maybe it's because she's the daughter of my favorite DILF.

I actually like Anora as well and take great pleasure in backing her for the throne just to rub Eamon's face in it. When I found out that her bitch hubby was going to ditch her and marry Empress Celene, I promised myself to always ensure Anora got the throne, one way or another. Eat that Celene, Eamon and Cailan ya bastard's.
Plus, she retains strength and elegance with a penchant for running rings around other people, which makes her great as a monarch when she needs to manipulate events. Though I fear this may be needed when DAI arrives-seeing as Celene will no doubt be involved. Royal Catfight!! Place your bets folks!

Man, I thought I was the only who respected Anora, she seems to be a strong queen and smart woman, I never get why people hate her so much, I don't think Anora is THAT bad.

No, I liked her too. She actually took the throne on my first playthrough...man, my first playthrough was brutal for my warden when I think about it. He considered Alistair his right hand, and Alistair abandoned him. He fell in love with Morrigan, and Morrigan left him. Anora on the throne was one of the only things he felt good about in the aftermath. Anora honestly (and understandably) thought Alistair would be a bad king and saw he didn't even want the throne. Sure, she made some mistakes, but at least she didn't try to take the throne just so she could execute someone.
Anyway, I'm babbling. I'll blame the cuteness of the picture for that. It is totally cuteness, after all.

I really never understood the hate for Anora personally, especially since a lot of it is triggered by actions that only occur due to the player not listening to what she's saying or ignoring her entirely. When you rescue her she makes a point of telling you that she cannot afford to be caught by her father's guards or seen by him as a threat until her trap is sprung. So what do most players do when Cauthrien finds them seconds later? They reveal who she is in front of those very same guards... *face palm* :/
I liked Anora even though she betrayed me during the Landsmeet during my first playthrough because I stupidly forgot to talk with her in her room at the estate before gallivanting off to the ends of the earth. She's the kind of leader that Ferelden needs if it wants to be taken seriously by the rest of the known world. With that said however, I usually make a point of throwing Alistair and her together now because I find that they compliment each other quite well. (His issues with her father not withstanding.) He's the muscle and she's the brains of the operation. :3

Same here, same here! I couldn't agree with you more! A woman tries to do what's best for her cause, and someone is disrespectfully getting in the way of it. Naturally, any person with power and conviction is going to do something about it! However, because Anora is a lady, people tend to immediately cry "BITCH!" and label her as a heartless devil. It's really silly, if you ask me-- on the contrary, I think she is beyond badass. <3

Anora is a great character and I think unfairly misunderstood! I think the only thing that is "off" about her is that she didn't seem to care too much that Cailin was murdered by her father? But it's like...I don't know she had a lot going on, she'll let her grief catch up to her later. I SHOULD WRITE A FIC ABOUT THAT >_> so people can chill out.

Well, since she's a lot like her dad, I'm under the impression that she doesn't wear her emotions on her sleeve. She's a very strong and ambitious lady, so yes, like you said, I can totally see her grieving later. Then again, we never really got to see her in her down-time. She seemed pretty upset when she found out Cailan was dead (she stormed out of the room in anger after Loghain told her), so perhaps all of her emotions happened off-screen.

Yeah, I can see how it would all be off screen, or how she could have the traits of her father since he mostly raised her? I don't know their family history I AM ASSUMING with my power of assumption. I always thought her strong and capable and had no problem making her queen in my initial play through because I was like..she DOES seem like a better candidate than good ole Al (I hadn't hardened him anyway and he was like BAW NO QUIERO!)
I honestly feel she's better written (within the game) than Loghain. I can see why people like him more, but she possesses nearly identical traits and gets shit for it (double standards, hello I like parenthesis). The reason I say she is better written is because her choices and attitude are understandable and justified, whereas Loghain's actions are never actually explained (at least not in any of my play-throughs?). How do you go from a great hero to a treacherous murdering slave-trader and then suddenly be like WELP you've bested me lets hang out? Though maybe there is explanation in the extra comics or graphic novels? I wanted to like him, he was a proper asshole and all, but mostly I just felt like he had lost his mind and that is not so attractive to me!

Same here! I was like, HEY! This lady wants to be queen! She's confident! She WANTS TO DO IT! I mean, ol' Alibear kept on complaining that he hated being a prince, so why make him king? Wouldn't Ferelden prefer a more experienced and willing leader? I thought so!
And yeah, I totally agree with you on the double-standards thing. I feel like people take any excuse to call a powerful woman a bitch. I mean, Loghain helped start-up a SLAVE TRADE. Yet somehow, people are way more enthusiastic about biting his daughter's head off. Boo.
Hoooooooo boy. I have a lot to say on the Loghain thing. Then again, I could totally be making assumptions and letting my fangirl goggles cloud my vision. Have you read The Stolen Throne? That guy went through some serious trauma. IT SUCKED. So yeah, I can see how he could have lost his mind a bit. I mean, like what was said in the game, he was extremely screwed up by paranoia and fear and stuff 'cause of the bad shit that happened with the Orlesian occupation. I can see how that's super unattractive, definitely. I do love extreme flaws, though, so I didn't really mind. I totally agree with you, though-- it sucks that they put almost all of his backstory in the novels and not in the game. It definitely makes his character confusing and doesn't bridge the gap between ASSHOLE and LOYAL HONORABLE DUDE WHO THINKS YOU'RE ALRIGHT.

Maybe if Anora had been more villainous people would have given her a break. "Oh she's kicking babies? SIGN ME UP FOR HER FANLIST" I don't know! While she had a bit of a cold demeanor, she was pretty cool to me. I like straight shooters, I surely do!
haha I have added you to my AIM! And will work up the nerve to talk to you when I am not frantic with my NaNo bulldonky. BUT, I will say here, that I am not at all saying Loghain is a bad character. I think the creators had intentions for him that just were not explored in the game, and that is what is disappointing about his character. I love villains, I love GOOD villains, and Loghain had a lot of potential but I also hate characters that have flippy floppy personality without explanation, so I think I would have been on board the fangirl express had they just taken a bit more time to go into travel into crazytown! Is The Stolen Throne a novel or a comic? I might have to pick it up and see what I missed! I will also have to play through where I take him into my party. I was always too wussy. As soon as characters start yelling at me I'm like OMG I'm SORRY I'll DO WHAT YOU WANT FAKE PERSON WHO IS REALLY NOT YELLING AT ME.

Makes sense, girl! Stolen Throne is the first prequel novel, and it's all about Loghain and Maric pushing the Orlesian army out of Ferelden. So yeah, you learn a TON about him in it. Again, I agree with you. It's lame that they tucked away all of his backstory away in a book most players probably won't ever read. And yes! You should totally take him into your party, he has interesting things to say. I GET THE WHOLE BEING YELLED AT BY FAKE PEOPLE THING. Alistair made me feel SO BAD. It's not easy being dumped by a fictional man you've had a 50-hour relationship with! D:<

I'll definitely have to pick it up then and see what I have missed out on as far as Loghain goes. I had figured it was not that much of a difference to add him to your party because the game was so close to being over, but now I am intrigued! Interesting things? I am down with hearing some of that.

I somehow imagine that while Cailan would read the stories about stomping out bad guys in gleaming armor, Anora would read the stories about Flemeth or something about power and ruling over stuff.
As a character, I see her as crafty and opportunistic which aren't completely bad things as long as you're not in the way. Unfortunately that tends to be rather flexible as long as you're not on her side definitely.

I'm actually okay with Anora. She hasn't betrayed me in my playthroughs yet (made her queen in my first playthrough and made her and Alistair marry each other on the second playthrough). Plus, she's very lovely to look at.
