I kinda wonder how did you manage to keep the camera alive with all of the water around P:

When I lived in Alaska one time my wife and I went to a coast village called Seward to go deep sea fishing!
My wife was the only female in a group of about 12 duds. The guys were doing the guy thing: being technical, showing off whatever they thought was worth bragging about, and sharing previous events where everybody had got huge fish. Julia (my wife), on the other hand was very intimidated and she even needed help to set the bate because she didn't like to hurt the small fish we were using to get to bigger ones.
In the end she was the one who got the biggest fish and I had the best time of my life watching all the guys getting all upset because a woman who had never dine this before and didn't even knew what to do actually got the big one!!!!
Photojournalism is a bit like that. I may have the better equipment, the most experience at a given event at some time, yet that gives me no guarantee that I will get "the shot" of the day!!!
There is always an element of randomness in everything in life. However, if one is not ready, then the chances are really against it. This is why I love to see the great catches of other photographers because I can appreciate what goes into getting the shot!

I couldn't agree more.
I will add to that. there's a fine duality to it, all the tools in the world will not give a person talent, and on the other hand no amount of talent can replace the leg work and patience.
i think it was Thomas Edison who said "Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration"
