Yes, I did. My friend and I made Shiro and Kuro JSKs together. :3

Thank you so much. <3 It's based off of an AP design, so I had some help. XD

Well that is much better than paying $200+ for a JSK xD I wish I could make things like that O:

So much better, yeah. Sewing is actually quite easy once you learn! Plus I take commissions, so even if you can't, I can! XD

I can sew quite a couple different things, like my cosplays, but for some reason I never got the hang of sewing Lolita xD And you do? o: About how much do you charge?

bakainu-2112 In reply to Raven382 [2011-04-23 18:29:31 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's cost of materials + $10-15 an hour (depends on complexity)+ shipping to you. ^w^

Ohh okay! O: Cause I was wanting to find someone to commission a replica of this dress here,

As an afterthought, I looked at the dress again and it's fairly straightforward, but it'll be a bit of an investment in materials alone. ^w^; Do you have a budget?

Out of sheer hilarious coincidence, I finished a BABY replica Velveteen dress earlier this year. (Well less replica and more, I'm going to do my absolute best to attempt this dress. XDDDD )

Well, my replication skills aren't perfect, but I am pretty good at taking a design and tailoring it to my materials and the things I can actually accomplish. I'm currently replicating an AatP dress here: [link]

So far the only alterations are the apron not being a front panel and being two separate pieces to tie at the waist and there being only one lace ruffle at the top instead of two. I'd be glad to show you a picture when I'm finished so you can get an idea of how closely I can model things. I do everything myself, so it won't be an exact copy...

Oh! That would be wonderful if you could send pictures when it's done. And even if it's not an exact copy, anything similar to it would be greatly appreciated! It's just that I've been looking everywhere for a navy blue velveteen JSK but could only find that one from Baby D:

As for a budget, I'm trying to keep it below at least $160-ish or around there...>_< About how much do you think it would cost for something like this?

bakainu-2112 In reply to Raven382 [2011-04-28 02:52:16 +0000 UTC]

JSK base price is $60, plus cost of materials and shipping. If you'd be willing to wait about 2 weeks, I'll be home from college and I know a fabric shop in NYC where I purchased the velveteen for my JSK at $10 a yard, and I only bought three. (That was for the wrong size in the first place, and would have fit up to a 40in bust!) They had the exact royal blue of this JSK. I can also contact you if needed to check color swatches, etc. The cotton lace will be harder to find, and more expensive than the easily accessible Rachel laces you find at fabric stores.

The dress is finished now, so I'll have a picture up momentarily.

Ohh okay. :3 That doesn't sound like a bad price at all! And I'm quite fine with waiting a few weeks, as I need to get the money together first anyway. I'm quite small-ish so I doubt it would take much xD My measurements are
Bust: 34"
Waist 27"
And if it wouldn't be too much trouble, I'd love to see the exact shade of blue you would be using. But only if it's not too much trouble. >_<
But thank you so so much!! <3

Okay, that is a LOT of ruffling. 4 yards, maybe. XDDD

Raven382 In reply to bakainu-2112 [2011-04-29 00:59:53 +0000 UTC]

4 yards is totally fine xD So do you think you could estimate the total cost of the dress (Minus shipping of course) So I know how much I need to save for it.

bakainu-2112 In reply to Raven382 [2011-04-28 22:52:01 +0000 UTC]

You've the same measurements as me! So you'd only need 2-3 yards tops. I ruffled the entire edge of mine and still had extra, but the other JSK has more detail, so 3 would still cover it I'm sure. ^w^

I'll be home around the 14th of May, and then I'd be able to hit the fabric store and I could photograph the available materials.

If you like, I could send you a note and we could exchange cell phone numbers so I'd be able to discuss with you while I'm there

Oh! Thank you so so much!! And would email be okay? D: I'm very paranoid about giving out my number online..Sorry!! >_< But I can get on msn on my phone (not sure if you have a phone like that..) But I think that would really be the only thing I'd need to see is the color/fabric.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bakainu-2112 In reply to Raven382 [2011-04-29 15:00:09 +0000 UTC]

That's no problem. :3 Email would be fine, and you have time if you don't wish to give it to me now. ^w^ I thought it would be easier to send you a cell phone picture while I'm at the store so you could say "Yay" or "Nay" to the color and I could continue looking if needed. XD

If the price is still the same, $40 in general materials, (Though this is without the laces, for those will vary in price and availability, also useful for the cell cam, and the charm which I'm sure I can recreate on my own) plus the base $60 for a JSK, hits about $100 in total plus a little more depending on the lace choices or decisions you make.

Ohh okay :3 Though as long as the lace matches the Btssb version as closely as possible, it should be great.

Got it! ^-^ I shall start saving up right away xD And again, thank you so so much!! I've been wanting this dress for quite awhile, but never had the money for the Baby version D:

Finding cotton lace is a challenge, and I may have to search online for it. The rose chains are a little less difficult, and I hopefully could get something reasonable on Etsy. I'll keep you updated, however!

So pretty! Did you draft your own pattern or is it modified from something else?

bakainu-2112 In reply to Molokai42 [2010-11-17 02:21:10 +0000 UTC]

We use a costume pattern from a Dorothy/Alice set, but we modified the top portion to be a JSK rather than the full sleeved top.

Unless you mean the design, which we adapted from an Angelic Pretty design.
