I'm thinking about adding a new species to the same realm the valarin are from. My first thought is a homunculus race. I'm thinking there was an elder race that created the homunculi. In this universe, it's kinda like all the animals and creatures come about, not through evolution, but through a melding of magical forces, and sort of just come into existence. So, these guys are referred to as "true" homunculi because they're a merging of magical forces that have never been done before; there's no naturally occurring race that resembles them. They're completely engineered. The homunculi were created to be a servant race, slaves to the elder race I haven't thought of yet. As you can guess, the homunculi resisted slavery and, since they had no natural population, all the slaves were the only members of the species. They all rebelled simultaneously and escaped from the elder race. They can't procreate. There are other homunculi of other species, but they're the only ones of their kind, so only new homunculi by being created. They escaped and started their own kingdom in part of the world that wasn't particularly desirable, founded on equality with a very orderly defense. They have kind of a zealous or pious outlook when it comes to freedom and individuality even though they are created for specific purposes, so they're kind of a conundrum. They are organic, even though they look sort of inorganic, but that's mostly to make them look separate from the natural races.
