Hi! I saw the request for a constructive comment on Project Comment, specifically about "Overall Improvement".
This is kind of a tough one, because I feel like a lot of the things I could comment on could be quickly retorted with a quick "That's just my style". Not saying that's what you WOULD say, just saying you could get away with it.
I think I'm pretty safe with these observations: Anatomy wise, her left leg (the bent one) looks WAY longer then the right; I don't care how much the foot arches up, there's no way it would be that big. You really overemphasis a lot of lines in the belly when you don't have to; they end up looking a little weird, when you could just outline her waist, add a bellybutton (which I'm sure is in your drawing, even though I can't see it), and you're set. The hands don't really seem to wrap around her arms like you want to, but I think that's because you drew the outline of the arm before you drew the hands wrapping around it, so it's kind of brown and muddy where you drew that out.
The biggest thing that I think could improve your art is if you didn't outline everything so strongly. Feel free to use those strong lines in areas that would be shaded, or even in areas that are just away from your light source. But when you outline everything in thick lines (except the folded arm in the front, that's done properly), it flattens everything. The flowers especially would gain a LOT of dimension by this little change. But this is one of those things where yo can say "It's just my style", and I could never really argue with you.

firstly she looks very elegant. i know the watercolor technique is quite difficult but you did very well especially the flowers. i think you should work little bit on the anatomy. her arms seems to little bit shorter and her shoulders are wider with respect to her body

Hey there. This is a great composition and concept. Is this a female character? If so, the shoulders are too broad in comparison to the hips, and a little too square. It makes the character feel masculine. There are other anatomical things, but the shoulders really stand out to me.

The conceptual idea behind this piece are very nice, however now would be a good time to actually work on color usage with the piece. Shades appear more crayon-like as opposed to water colors. Try and use deeper and more toned shades and highlights to breathe more life into the piece as a whole. Keep it up.

Oh, I like the concept! Whimsical. beautiful and emotive. The only thing that I have to point out that it should be more prominent shadows on the woman. And don't be scared to embrace shadow colors like desaturated medium to dark greens or blues. It'll make her pop out a little more instead fighting with the rest of the composition. But I know how watercolors can be a pain in the ass. Great work!

hey this was put into the featured folder. did you make sure that was ok because I thought that folder was meant for contest winners, runnerups and what not.

fair enough, maybe put it in pencil or we can ask child-of-thy-light to make a traditional art folder. put I would suggest to put it in pencil for now.
