Description its not exactly a good tutorial, because when i got in the half of this, i was totally forgotten i was in fact doing a manipulation just for the purpose of writing it down but mayby its a bit helpfull i tried to get the result of " my secret place" but hmm that wasn't the result , but it gives an idea in fact i share a few of my methods of " blending" and the rainbow background i get

model comes from
background sky my own stock, the sea come from free picture photo's

it shows how, but in the word document in the zip its a bit more explaned

if you try this or you tried the rainbowish method give a yell so i can get curious to see how you did it and how you let it inspire you

I use paintshoppro 14 now. To start aintshop is easier then photoshop and also a lot cheaper. For the brushes is photoshop better then painstshoppro , they are ' finer' to use then the ones in paintshop ( meaning for painting hair and stuff like that ).

How do you delete the rest in step three? I don't get that one.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

azurylipfe In reply to MNAvenger [2012-06-06 23:27:17 +0000 UTC]

For deleting around the model? First you select the model with your lasso tool ( make sure you changed the background layer into a raster layer otherwise you delete the background and got a black or other color background in place of that) After you have cut out the model, you go to selection- invert- and then just hit delete and you should have a cut out model.
Step 3 is smudging the image smooth. just make sure you have the selection off or otherwise you can't smudge.

Hello Did you remove this download? Each time I click download I get a 'file not found' error.

Could I download it somewhere else or an upgraded version is in your gallery or what?

wow. great. but this was so difficult for me!. i love photo shop, bu t this is my first try with photo manip, so it's hard! i really want to get into digital painting, but i have NO clue were to start and i always feel guilty using tutorials.

thanks
I know, first manips are always hard, because you don't know what you all can do and it doesn't get easier because the better you get, the harder you get on yourself
Don't feel quilty about using tutorials. they are a great help to help you discover things. Also read tutorials and pick the interesting things from it if you see they get a certain effect that seems to be interesting, try it, and make it your own by expermiment with it
For digital painting i have collected a few here [link] and a few here [link] but this one isn't updated in a long time, so i guess some of the links will be gone .
And i have some tutorials about digital painting to but they aren't 'up to date' because i have progressed more to so i don't really recommend them

quick question, I always wanted to try this art out for my own, but how do you know if you have permision to use the water, and sky, and all those backgrounds and sell them as prints. That always scared me off >.<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

azurylipfe In reply to hwlwolf05 [2007-11-13 22:21:23 +0000 UTC]

Lol quick question but long answer

here on DA you can find tons of fantastic stockphoto's, just use the browse button, go to categories- resources- stock images, and there you can chose from different catergories [link]

Here on DA all the stocks have a few rules in their journal . Read those . most importent rules all stockers have is ' use, abuse, credit and note ' keep that in mind some have a few more rules

If you save photo's from DA ( or elsewhere) save them in a folder, and its even better to even save in folders named after the stockgallery you get the photo from, that way you always can find the stockphotographer back..
When you have used a photo or more in a manip, credit the stockphotographers in the description of your piece AND send them a little note that you have used their photo.. All stockphotographers here on DA ask this , and its a real small favor you can do for them and they appreciate that very much

If you want to make a print, first read their journal again, some deviantstocks have a DA permission only on their site mostly saying ' hereby i grant permission to all DA artists to use my stock in their prints ' or something like this.. which means that you can submit a print without asking permission first ( but its always nice to let them know its added as print ) ( but most of the time i still note them before i put it up as print because i forgot they have a permanent DA permission lol )

If in their rules says that you have to note for permission, then you have to send them a little note ' If they want to give permission to make a print etc If they say' Yes ', then you have to wait a little while before you can submit it as a print if they give permission, because they have to send a permission to DA that they allow you to make a print of it ( wait a day or 2 ) otherwise it gets rejected

Some stocks on DA don't allow commercial use, if you are planning to create something and want to make a print of, don't use those,(but you can always ask before you create something if its just that ideal pic you have in mind, you never know you will be lucky .. )

If you are not sure about their rules, send them a little note that you have a question, all stockphotographers ( at least all the onces i ever used or noted ) are really very kind and will gladly answer your question

Its all a matter of reading the stockphotographers Rules, and respect them, If you do that , i doubt you will get into troubles

For stock xchng thats a harder one to get back to the photographer if you look at the photo's there you see little orbs under the photo, some are half "moons" and other are full moons divided in 2 the black colored ones and the white colored ones.. The half moons are restriction free most of the time, but to know for sure, click on the photographers name and see if they wrote something about it in their profile/ introduction . The white moons are royality free, and mostly the photographers wants you to let him know if you used a photo, the black ones, often means you can only get the photo after you filled in a form why you want to use that photo ( i don't download the black ones , to much hassle because i always download in the case of ' someday it will be usefull ' )

when you save the photo's from stock Xchng save their number because that is importent to find the photo and the photographer back. the first part of the number is the photonumber. when you used one, go to stock xchng, click on a photo and replace that number with the number of the photo you used and normally you will get to that photo..
When i used stock xchng in a print, i normally contact the photographer to let him know i used his pic, even when i don't have to, i still let them know

its seems like a hard work to keep everthing up in your mind, but in fact it is easy, if you keep this in mind,
* read their rules,' before you download the stock
*use and abuse' the photo make some effort, make them proud,
*when finished, credit them ( with a link ),
*and finaly Note them , let them know so that they can see what has been done with it

I hope my rambling helps a little bit

Very very helpfull
A quick dumb question though.... See when your model/object etc has been cropped and you go to selections and click invert, I got confused on what to do next cos you said delete, But the delete button didnt do anything =S lol.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

azurylipfe In reply to MaydayKoigo [2007-07-08 14:29:23 +0000 UTC]

did you put the layer on raster? if it still is called background it will detete the background but put a background color on it in exchange. another way is, you can also keep the selection, don't invert it, rightclick on the backgroundlayer and chose 'romote selection to layer' then the selection comes on a new layer. then you have still the background layer intact and a new layer with the cut out model without a background.
