So this monday, a dear friend of mine came to visit me and we took a good look at the new pokemon generation . I just love to talk about pokemon with him, we have such fun times. XDDDThen we spotted Rankurusu and he came up with this idea. Of course I made it much more creepier in my drawing, but my first impression of it wasn't much better. XD
I would like to apologise too, if I'm offending anyone with this. I'm a deep lover of the first generation of pokemons, and a lot of some of them at the last generation really creeps me out, like Rankurusu and Minezumi. DB
But that's only my opinion. ^^'
This was made in the monday, since I'm going through a minor art block right now. >_>
Oh well.

if he wasn't a cell/virus/amoeba/whatever, and didnt have that jell-o substance around him, he'd be a lot cuter. he looks like something out of lilo and stitch IMO... cute drawing though and poor eevee

As generations are going a long, I'm noticing the pokemon designs becoming a lot more strained. Well, perhaps strained isn't the right word, but it just looks like they're trying too hard to create something "original".
The pokemon in the first generation (for the most part) had simpler, believable designs. They might have had some markings here or a bit of fancy fur there, but in general they were a lot more "realistic" in shape and pattern. As I look at the new fifth generation, the pokemon are very much more "busy" - they are very complex, overall. Strange, impractical body shapes, markings and color patterns that are complicated, and a lot more "add on" fluff than anything you saw before.
Detail is much like spice. Use it in the right place, and in the right amount, and things turn out delicious. Add too much, and it ends up overpowering the dish and making it unpleaseant.
I feel sorry for the pokemon fans that are going to grwo up with these new generations - they're going to have a much harder time drawing them!
(As a side note, that little mutant, amoeba-like pokemon there reminded me of a certain beastie from Resident Evil:[link] )

I had a hard time for finding out why these new designs were so weird to me... But now you've cleared it all. It's the details, of course.
For example, a charmander. It's a little dragon, two basic colors, round shapes, and a little flame in the top of it's tail. Done! You have a charmander!
But looking at the newest pokemon, their unusual, unnatural forms and colors strikes me. =\
(Wow, it's mouth looks totally alike! XDDD )

I dare to say that the newer generations aren't realy that good as the first and also some of the 2nd. It's probably because that whole thing became too comercial, i think most of the 1st generation pkmn were drawn with love or similar feelings, while the newer ones were drew in a hurry just to have something new for the kids and said pkmns like Rankurusu are the result of the bad work...
well funny idea, and probably more meaningful than you thought ; )

I don't say money makes everything worse, it's just how most of the companies handle it, all i can say about that is that money isn't = succes, but i'm realy not that much into pkmn anyway soo... yeah

Keh, I prefer oldish Pokemon back in the first gen. But, heh, recently the designs are getting interesting to see... kind of.

I admit, there are a lot of pokemons in the second gen, and some more in the third and fourth generation, that caught my eye. But a lot of them are also very weird, to the point where I look at them and literally say "Whadda f***" XD

I've kind of given up trying to keep up with the number of Pokemon since the second generation - what I'm interested in now is seeing how many more times Pokemon can keep inventing new species XD

I don't really like the new generation but wiredly Rankurusu is my favourite of the black and white Pokemon xD

Eh, 5th Generation is cool (loving the legends), but so far, there haven't been any Pokemon that caught my attention.
As a TRUE Pokemon fan, I'll delve into this generation and hope for some new experiences.

Yeah, the game development looks awesome, and Zekrom really have caught my eye. But the pokemons are a little bit exaggerated, I don't dig their designs. ^^'
Well, I AM a true pokemon fan... But a fan of the first generation. >_>
