Holla back if you think Movie!Snotlout not only pwns Book!Snotlout but just about every other character.
Seriously, I have a secret crush on that guy. Sassy/tough is the way to go.
Also, book!Snotlout has officially become douche-bag of the year after ninth book. Who speaks to their daddy like that? I know movie!Snotlout would never. He has just the right about of 'follower' in him to make him endearing.

Up to book 9... and while I have much catching up with the TV series to do (loved the movies) still prefer Movie/TV Snotlout!

These two are very different. Then again, a lot of the characters from the movies are different from their book counterparts.
*SPOILER ALERT* The next few statements contain spoilers from the books.
However, when you reach the 11th book, and Book/Hiccup has that fight with Book/Snotlout, you find out that Book/Snotlout is actually a very tragic character. He was consumed by so much pride, disappointment, and jealousy that he lost everything he valued, and he realized it. It would've been one thing if he just blamed Book/Hiccup for everything (which he did at first), but as he continues his rant, he seems to realize that he was actually angry at himself all along. That makes me feel sorry for him.
I admit, I didn't like him throughout the series. But when I read that part in the 11th book, it really changed my mind about Book/Snotlout. He also seemed very real, because there are some people in real life who we view as bullies, but we don't know what's going on in their soul that is tormenting them.
As for Movie/Snotlout, he's funny when he's trying too hard to be cooler than the others. And while he and Movie/Hiccup still have a rivalry, it's not like Movie/Snotlout wants anything bad to happen to Movie/Hiccup (unlike in the books) or anyone else for that matter. He's has a prideful and and egotistical personality, but he also has a "nobody-messes-with-my-friends-but-me" part of his personality.

Book!Snotlout actually ends up kinda being a little bit of a woobie. I won't lie, I cried at his *spoilers* scene. I mean, when I found out why he called Hiccup useless all the time.......This series just want's to break our hearts. And it's working.

I've only owned it for two weeks, and I've already read it about 96 times! I will not lie, Everyone in that book will break your heart. Except Alvin and his Mother, EVERYONE WILL MAKE YOU CRY! EVERYONE! I was a sodden mess when I finished it the first time. And you WILL be shocked at Snotlout's *Spoilers* scene. I hated him, and I cried. Hard.

Movie Snotlout has a big Monstrous Nightmare he can ride. The book Nightmare was smaller. Movie Snotlout, while hotheaded, also holds respect for Hiccup. Book Snotlout is a colossal asshat. Movie Snotlout over Book Snotlout any day.

Movie Snotlout is just brilliant. Especially just the things he says- "I'll cut off the legs of every dragon I fight! With my FACE!"
Book Snotlout, on the other hand, has kind of just went from a cruel bully to pretty much a villain. Who, due to a sort of minor crush on Book Hiccup, I really hate. Movie Snotlout indeed pwns.

Movie one just bugs me. XD I always hate characters like movie one. Plus he has the same voice as Hal from Megamind, and that in itself makes me want to strangle him. \o/

You know, now that I think about it, I saw it first too. I just never noticed the voice thing till the time I watched HttyD after first seeing MM.
I didn't mind his jerkieness, but his whole Astrid thing, whenever any character is like that I want to kill their brains. XD He was funny, but he annoyed me too much.

Oh yes. I just thought he was fitting the stereotypical jock in the movie, but the short really did wonders for his character. Especially since he represented everyone's feelings on Astrid's "tradition" attempts so well

Yeh, I had heard Snotlout was an absolute jerk in the books. He seesm to have a real skull fetish in your picture. The movie version seems surprisingly likable. I was expecting for him to be a vengeful jerk, but he came more across like an overconfident jock but who had also a soft side and let it come out eventually out.
Did the Snotlout in the book have ram horns as well?
Nice little New England college athletics reference in there. I am still figuring which mascot belongs to which school in this area. A lot of nautical stuff for some strange reason.
