Description Tuyen loves flowers and leaves a lot. She doesn't eat them, but she likes the smell, especially after it has rained. This was, just like the Madeleine painting, a quick exercise to get my creativity flowing again. I do sketch more lately, so that's definitely a good sign Tuyen has the most vibrant colours of my characters, next to Sibirica perhaps, but she gets enough attention from me already and I wanted to use bright colours for once, so here we go! The scanner messed up the colours pretty bad on this one, I think it's because of the vibrant greens, yellows and reds in one picture. Can't handle that, I guess. The background is supposed to be white...

I made a light sketch and then used Prismacolor pencils on top. You can still see the sketchlines at some places, but that's okay. Also, please forgive the Tumblr watermark, I posted it there first and forgot to save it on a separate layer

Great to hear you're doing more sketching! But I really like this, it's sweet, light and the pose is really cute. I also like the pencil-colours and the way the markings kinda 'fade' into each other (if you uderstand what I mean haha ) I really like the paws, too :3

You're welcome ^^ I have always had trouble with coloured pencils, for one or another reason ... I think it might be because of the way I learned to draw with graphite, by leaving the paper blank somewhere. It does not really give the right effect with coloured pencils. I really should clean my table so that I could get to work on some more projects ...

Hmmhmm, coloured pencils still challenge me a lot: I'm more used to the fast way of colouring with Copic markers, where you get really nice colours and colour depth very quickly if you do it right. These pencils take a lot more time and effort, so they're not my favourite medium, but I still enjoy them Good luck with them!

(Life happened, this answer - and many others - are incredibly late. Sorry about that!)

I try to befriend them, but it is really, really hard. I'm best with pencils or digital media, but it just takes so long to draw something digitally, I think. I also think that markers are nice, yet I'm not that good at using them yet. I have yet to try copics - I actually don't even know if they are in my country, but I've heard much good about them, so if I decide to try out new traditional media, I'll probably check them out.
Thanks, and you too!
