Description Comparison of the mesonychid mesonychians Pachyaena gracilis (top), P. gigantea, and P. ossifraga, from Late Paleocene/Early Eocene of Wyoming, United States.  For scale, P. gracilis would have been slightly larger than a grey wolf.
