Robert Bruce Banner is the son of Dr. Brian Banner, a well-known atomic physicist in Dayton, Ohio, and his wife Rebecca. Although Rebecca deeply loved Bruce, who returned her affection, Brian hated their child and was driven by an insane jealously of Bruce for being an object of Rebecca's love. He also began harboring delusions that his son might be a mutant due to his often exposure to radiation during his research in gamma energy after witnessing his young son's high intellect when Bruce was 4. These factors led to Brian regularly abusing Bruce both physically and verbally. One of the few people who helped Bruce cope with Brian's tantrums was his cousin Jennifer Walters, with whom Bruce used to spend summers in the public library reading for hours, losing themselves to books.

Eventually, Rebecca had enough of the abuse from her husband and packed up a bag for her and Bruce to try and leave. However, they were caught in the driveway and Brian beat his wife to death before Bruce's eyes. Upon witnessing his mother's death, Bruce stifled all his emotions thereafter. Brian was arrested for murdering his wife, however, before the trial, Bruce was bullied and abused by his father into telling the judge and jury that he made up his testimony against his father and that his mother really died by accident when she tripped and fell while trying to flee her husband. While Brian Banner was originally cleared of charges, until he was overheard gloating about browbeating his own son into making a false testimony. Found guilty by reason of insanity, Brian Banner was hauled off to a psychiatric facility for treatment.

Afterwards, Bruce was then placed in the care of his aunt Susan Banner, who raised Bruce throughout the rest of his childhood. The aforementioned traumatic events caused Bruce to start to develop multiple personality disorder, which he wouldn't be diagnosed with years later as his D.I.D. was largely suppressed at the time. The first sign that Bruce was developing mental problems due to his childhood abuse manifesting when Bruce began to talking an imaginary friend he named "the Hulk", as a way with coping with his past. Concerned, Bruce's aunt took him to mental health professionals who assured her that these were merely coping mechanisms and they would eventually go away. Unfortunately for the world, they never did and the Hulk endured as Banner's "imaginary friend" for years.

During his years in high school, Banner was often pressured by the Hulk to blow up their school as a means to vent out his frustration, leading him to work on explosives in an abandoned warehouse. Bruce, however, changed his mind and refused to blow up the school, which did not sit well with the Hulk. Over the next few nights, unknown to Bruce, when he slept, the Hulk took control of his body and planted a bomb in the school set to go off in the morning. When Bruce realized what had happened he rushed to the school to try and disarm it but found that nobody would listen to his warnings. Crashing into the boiler room, Bruce managed to get down into the basement in just enough time to disarm it. Caught down in the boiler by some of his fellow students, they immediately figured out what Bruce had done and jumped him. The principal then closed the school for the day and locked Bruce down in the boiler room where he was beaten until the authorities arrived. After Bruce was released from the hospital, Bruce's aunt moved him and her out of town in order for Bruce to avoid jail time. Unknown to Bruce, his aunt was approached by General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, the nephew of the late costumed adventurer and former SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) agent Betsy Ross. General Ross pointed out to her that the bomb, while sophisticated, was not constructed properly, but the work impressed the military who informed Susan Banner that they would invest in his education in the hopes that he could become a great weapons design who could work for the military.

After graduating from high school, Bruce Banner attends Harvard University where he obtains his doctorate in both nuclear physics and biochemistry. Eventually, Banner becomes one of the world's foremost experts in the field of gamma radiation, recruited the U.S. Department of Defense by General Ross shortly after Tony Stark had quit the weapon manufacturing business. With Stark Industries no longer in weapons development, the U.S. military starts to go to more radical approaches. This led to Banner's hypothetical "Gamma Bomb" or "G-Bomb", an EMP-like nuclear device that would release high dosages of modified gamma radiation in a large radius, destroying organic matter but leaving structures and buildings untouched. During his long months working on the Gamma Bomb project, Banner meets fellow nuclear physicist and Thunderbolt Ross's daughter Betty Ross. Banner and Betty eventually fell in love with each other and get engaged, their wedding date pending.

Banner was present in the first (secret) test of the Gamma Bomb in an abandoned military base at New Mexico, but when he noticed that a civilian had somehow breached security and entered the restricted test area, he quickly leaves the bunker to escort the civilian to safety before the bomb detonates. However, by the time he gets there, the G-Bomb goes off as Banner throws the civilian, a runaway teenage girl named Ricky Jones, into a protective trench. Before he had the chance to get himself to safety, Banner was doused with intense waves of radiation from the bomb's detonation. Instead of dying from radiation sickness, Banner's body absorbs the gamma radiation and transforms him into his old "imaginary friend"--the Incredible Hulk, a gigantic green monster of a man with enormous strength and a savage, child-like mentality.

During his first transformation, the Hulk goes on a rampage, destroying the military base and accidentally injuring Betty in the process. After learning that Betty was put into a coma in the incident, Banner and his new hulking green identity go on the run, avoiding major population centers and trying to control his rage issues. This results in a confidential manhunt by the "Hulkbusters," a specially-trained military unit led by General Thunderbolt Ross, with the goal of capturing the Hulk and other gamma mutations like him. The Hulkbusters' secret objective is to recover Banner's knowledge of the Gamma Bomb to repeat the incident and create an army of super-soldiers in the name of national security. This chase lasts for a few years as the Hulkbusters and other forces attempt to contain the Hulk, who thwarts their every attempt, with Ricky Jones, feeling responsible for Banner becoming the Hulk, trying to help keep him away from their attackers. The latest in this series of attackers would be S.H.I.E.L.D., who then incarcerated him in one of their maximum detention facilities, the Cube. Hulk's imprisonment within the Cube would be short-lived because, under unknown circumstances, a mass breakout occurred as hundreds of super-criminals escaped from all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s major prisons, including the Cube. After escaping the Cube, the Hulk heard news of heroes like Iron Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Thor trying to contain a similar situation in New York. Banner convinced him in his own vision to help them and become a hero despite being known as a monster, in the condition of having control of the mind and body. After aiding the four heroes in New York, the Hulk joins them as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s newly-assembled team of superheroes--the Avengers.

Well, that's it for the founding members of the Avengers, rounding it up with the Hulk. For these stories you can kinda see the Avengers' formation largely has elements from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Earth's Mightiest Heroes. In this universe, Nick Fury spearheaded the Avengers Initiative to form a rapid response team of superhumans and other remarkable individuals to defend the Earth from face extraordinary threats, following the Fantastic Four's encounter with highly-advanced alien civilizations like the Kree and the Skrulls. Like in the MCU, Iron Man was Fury's first choice for the team roster, but Stark initially refused because he didn't trust the government to handle his technology, however, he decides to join the team to help deal with a greater threat. Ant-Man and Wasp already work for S.H.I.E.L.D. as consultants and field agents and they almost immediately accept membership. Though he has doubts with S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers, Thor does join the Avengers so he can help the people of Midgard. The Hulk joins the Avengers in the last minute to help them in their battle with Graviton and to deal with the breakout and its perpetrators. Like in the early Avenger stories, Hulk leaves the team in after he believes that the others fear him of his unstable personality, but eventually comes back and becomes a proper Avenger to help them against a big threat or something. Also, I including Rick Jones (now Ricky Jones in this universe) in his origin because it's disappointing that he's been left out in almost every adaptation of the Hulk's origin. The dude's the Hulk's sidekick and a honorary Avenger! He was even Captain Marvel for several years for crying out loud! Poor Rick Jones

As for his design, there's not much to say without radically changing his classic design....it's the Hulk. I added little things to my Hulk a bit unique, such as big glowing green veins across his chest and arms to show the raw power that's lying within him. I also made a bit hairy and kinda has a beard. Instead his iconic torn purple jeans, Hulk's wearing some standard issue Avengers spandex pants made from unstable molecules.

Anyway, that's it for today, but expect more of Earth's mightiest heroes in the near future, true believers!

I hope you guys like it.
