Galactic Sentinels© 1987/2009 Michael C. Turner ~ Galactic Visions Space Art ~
Acrylic on canvas ( 36" x 48")
Towering rock spires (the remains of ancient volcanic magma tubes) stand before a star-filled background of an irregular galaxy.
*This is one of my "vintage" paintings (1987) in acrylics on stretched canvas using traditional bristle brush techniques.
A galactic cluster of satellite galaxies and star birthing nebulae are viewed from the surface of one of the multiple lunar companions of a ringed planet.

i absolutely adore this! the only thing that throws the piece out of balance is the moon. it seems alittle smushed on one side and i dont believe that the texture would be visible but altogether a fine work of art!

The big moon feels a bit flat to me in the darker area, but otherwise, like all of your other work, it is just fantastic.

Thank you for your comment and for adding this painting to your favorites. Of course, in the absence of illumination, that is the way the dark areas of spherical object looks. Actually it doesn't appear as flat-looking when viewed in higher resolution and/or directly. I find that photographs of paintings rarely capture the original atmosphere.

That's very true. Sometimes some of the photographs I take of my own works never turn out the way I want them to, so I never even bother showing them.
