Oh. Wow. The detail is really good. I love the birds in the background. They're so pretty. I'm the literature half of pupsgomoo so I really can't critique but I'm blown away by this piece. Rock on.

i like the soft and warm colouring. it matches with the dreamy expression. otherwise it would seem a lot more melancholic.
well done

Oh wow, this is beautiful.

I especially love the tone and shape of her face.

The hummingbirds are extremely life life, but what are those little things at the tip of their beaks?

Again Great Work.

Just want to comment to say that I love how you've made the woman in the picture more voluptuous, rather than painting stick-thin women like a lot of art seems to focus on. You've also created a sense of mystery very well in the piece.

I agree with the color palette you use. I really like it too, especially with the subjects. I also like the composition and a few of the things already mentioned above: background in relation to the hummingbirds, the bust feeling a little heavy although I think it is just the right side proportion, it seems a little off. Then again, I think that the style of your brush stroke offsets it since you have a really wonderful stroke. The color really grabs you as soon as you see the thumb.

AshleighPopplewell In reply to starvine [2007-06-14 20:19:57 +0000 UTC]

the right arm looks a bit off, but that is because she has one arm up, and her head is tilted, so it kinda threw everything off

I have done (and still do) the same thing. I tend to get really attached to certain areas and can overlook others.

I still can't get over the colors you used in this painting. It is very well done.

pretty...but the bust feels too heavy/make it more delicate

very pretty, and very rustic (but still soft). i feel like the background brushstrokes compliment your hummingbirds because they both seem very delicate. this is very pretty, Ashleigh!
