Owls...such amazing creatures, though reading two different books can cause massive confusion.
I love the Silverwing trilogy (plus Darkwing), but I also love the Guardians of Ga'Hoole (the books are WAY better than the movie and more understandable).
I though the lightning mark was just a mark, like he was born with it

As far as a scar goes, I'm not sure if feathers work the same as hair or not, but if a human has a scar, no hair will grow on it. If that scar is, like, on top of the head, you still won't see it because there's SO MUCH hair growing AROUND it still that it gets covered up. On the other hand, if it's somewhere like the face, going through an eyebrow or other facial hair, it's pretty clear there's no hair growing where it is.
So, I'm not sure where Oresets' scar is, or if feathers can grow out of one, but that's my two cents anyhow.

Yeah that's kind of what I thought. He's described as having a "lightning shaped scar on his chest" but I figured because owls sort of have a lot of feathers that aren't particularly short it would just cover the majority of it. Or we can just pretend it's on the other side of his body, haha.

I think it looks good then. Unless it was a really wide scar, you probably wouldn't be able to notice it visually. Maybe a tiny bit of thinning in the feathers around where it is.
