Description Oil & Tempera on Canvas - 80x80cm - 2008

this painting was initiated as a commission with a rough concept of 'New Beginnings'... i've worked for quite a few months on it, constantly seeing more, further, through... and have had a hard time telling myself to stop!! haha ---
my experience of life seems to being telling the same story of constant new beginnings, new awakenings ever intensified... a self portrait of discovering, a reminder of the true essence in life.
each moment a new beginning, every day a new day...
peace, oneness with existence silently vibrating, expanding.... always.

i will be offering affordable prints of this piece and some others through my website [link] - so drop me a line if u are interested

umm what a wonderful comment & observation thank you! yes i 'think' this is what i was/am seeking in the creation of these kind of works... that one is invited into a space & communication that is other, than our conventionally motivated thoughts... that it rather communicates through feeling... going deeper into our experience...

an egg and a blooming rose.. i'm not sure if either is intended or if both are but i love it just the same... i could use some new beginnings !

and i love the smoky quality of the lines near the top...

You know, I've never been one for symmetrical or nonrepresentational pieces, but this really is quite remarkable.

asage In reply to Hellspawn9245 [2008-11-19 11:11:05 +0000 UTC]

well if that is so, it is quite a compliment ... the symmetry is also very organic... is all a bit 'off' just like us

Haha, and so it must be. I couldn't appreciate something that duplicates itself perfectly. Destroys indiviuality. Identical twins are significantly different from eachother, though they bear opposite features. My mother's an identical twin. Be hard to love two of the same woman.

Really cool. Everything interweaves into it self. I see this Rose/Egg pattern repeat it self. Beautifully executed! Looks so clean and neat.

How did you go about setting this up to make it look so geometric?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

asage In reply to Chelovek [2008-11-19 11:17:49 +0000 UTC]

thanks i think i painted 5-7 layers all together... did a photo documentation of the process... quite a bit of time involved!!! the whole piece is developed out of just free drawing, free movement, no tracing, no cheating on the symmetry - none of it is actually symmetric, all organic, which was what i was going for. there is plenty of symmetry in nature, but it is organic, every little leaf, every little pattern is in itself unique and mathematic - with a certain freedom of expression.

I would love to see the process work of this. Well for free flow you got quite an eye.
