I think I'm on a square rose kick right now. This one didn't turn out as nicely as I had hoped it would, and I think that's because I went very quickly with it. I think I'll probably be doing more of these square roses because I enjoy the way they look.

I love the look of these square roses! I think it's hard to find uses for square surfaces. The proportions are just too perfect...nature is usually tall or long. But you've found a perfect use for them with your roses! I like the orange rose a bit better, this one seems to be lacking subtle texture, but it's still wonderful. You're excellent at painting the petals, the folds, and shadows so realistically. You should paint a rose to every color of the rainbow! You already have purple, orange, and pink! The pink could be magenta I guess.

You know, I've actually considered doing something similar to what you just mentioned. I wan't to do a piece (12" x 48") with roses covering every hue of the rainbow. It would be kind of like a gay pride piece, I think. Pretty sure I'm gonna start on that right away. lol
P.S. The Baboob is almost finished. Just have the eyes and tinting of the fur to finish, and it shall be ready!!

Haha, I know the whole rainbow thing is a gay pride symbol, but it doesn't have to be. It's however you interpret it. Sure you might gather a certain...audience...but I'd like it just for the pretty colors and flowers! I've done "rainbow cats" before, although they weren't all on the same picture. Sounds like you got a plan, so go for it!

Totally agree! I kind of want to paint it for that reason and just so I can say I've painted a rose in every color!!!
