Happy Witch Day!
Disclaimer which Nobody Asked For:
I have always been wholeheartedly devoted to the original Lilo & Stitch film. My attachment to Lilo & Stitch: The Series and it’s sequels come with nostalgia. To me, those are the truest forms of the characters. Now, when I was in high school, and the Stitch! Anime made it’s debut, my, like, 14 year-old brain exploded. I didn’t care for the idea that Stitch would dip out and live with anybody except Lilo. Now, I think, with time (and I hope a little maturity) I would say my opinion on the anime has dumbed-down quite a bit. I can see places where it tries to echo some of the same themes as the original Ohana, and I appreciate that it tried to add depth to some of the Experiments. So I don’t throw hate at the anime. I prefer to think of it’s events as an alternate universe.
However.
My personal opinion is that the Experiments who debuted in the anime were created to be anime villains, meaning they carry a certain vaguely-overpowered, final-boss flavor. Whereas the ones in the original were wacky, felt more like they came from the wacky evil-fanboy crossed with science nerd brain of Jumba Jookiba, and served the function of teaching a seven year-old character moral lessons. Plus, the ones in the anime, like Witch, Twang, and the others who never appeared in the original series, don’t look enough like Stitch’s cousins.
So I’ve made a few adjustments to Witch!
See if you can spot them. I tried to be subtle.
