this may sound trippy but i can see the movement in this! i can see her being nervous about having the photoshoot and her swallowing in that nervousness and focusing on getting a good photo out of the session. i can feel her emotion for the music she is listening to (either out of the headphones or in the background of the shoot). it also looks as if she, at any moment, will open her eyes and start laughing, knowing that she had to be so serious for this pose. a lot of things are showing through in this piece so you should be proud of it!

Yeah, it still gives me chills knowing that she had that plane crash after shooting "Rock the Boat" and they had that scene where she was swimming up toward the light. It's a shame the world lost someone so talented.

Technically this is very good. The atention to detail, the gloss on her lips, the highlights in her hair. But what I really like is how peaceful she looks.
Great work ^^

thank you. as i've said, before, i took a lot of time choosing the perfect picture to draw. this one just seems appropriate, considering how everyone viewed her and the tragedy of her death.

no, i used faber-castell drawing pencils. They come in different lead hardnesses from 2H (lightest) to 8B (darkest). I used the darker pencils on the hair, and the lighter one's on the face, and that's why there's such a strong contrast.

you can get them at arts & crafts stores like Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I don't know if those stores are in your area. If not, you can order them from some online store. The pencils come in a set of 12, and cost about $12. You can also buy them individually, at a little over a dollar a piece.

Its wonderful seeing more and more black women doing something w/ their talent. This pic brought me to tears. I stared at it for about 30 minutes and it still fascinates me. keep up the awesome work. You'll always have a fan out of me.

I truly feel you with the quality loss with a digi cam shot. unfortunately .. submitting artwork that includes our medium is very hard to get the full translation. O well. I get the premise and almost all of the beauty in this render. Remarkably well done!

Yeah, losing quality is quite frustrating. But using Photoshop, I can adjust the contrast and such to get it to look more like the original piece of art.

Wow, really nice! It always astounds me how other people get skin so smooth and consistent...

Yes, doing skin tones correctly does take a lot of patience. I tediously shaded in all the values without smudging, then I use tissue to blend it for a smoother texture. Some people use their fingers, but I try not too because the oils from you fingers can damage the quality of the image and make the final piece less archival.

Utterly amazing!! You captured the picture exactly. I know someone who would love to have that picture in her group. The shading is so soft, and the hair came out great. Excellent job!
