Xander was a common human the lived in a quiet cavern in Slugterra. He loved slugs as a kid and always played with them. When he reached the proper age, he began to try slug slinging. He was decent at it, not the worst and not the best. When he reached the age of 15, when he was looking for a new blaster, that day came.

Dr. Blakk and his goons arrived in that cavern, it was when his Ghoul slugs were in testing. Xander was unfortunately caught in the cross fire, getting a direct blast from an experimental Hop Jack. It injured him greatly, and caused him to go unconscious. When he came to, he saw Dr. Blakk again. But he was offering him help. The blast that Xander suffered damaged his heart, as well as his other internal systems. He also lost both of his arms and his left eye. Dr. Blakk told him that he could help him live, that is if Xander would be a loyal worker for him. Xander agreed, hoping for the best. But he didn't know what price he paid. The machinery Blakk used was based around his research on Dark Water. The stuff flowed through Xander, slowly killing and changing his insides. It caused his body to be dependent on a constant supply on it. Xander had to get a dose once a day. As an added feature, Blakk piled him with machinery to make him his own personal "heavy hitter."

Two years past since the "upgrade" and Xander was miserable; all the people he put in pain, all of the slugs he captured, every ghoul that attacked him, it was too much. But he needed that Dark Water to survive. That was when he ran into the Shane Gang. He was ordered then and there to take care of him. However before he could finish them off, the supply ran on its reserves. Xander pleaded for their help, constantly beginning for Dark Water. However, Eli did the better task. Using Doc, his healer slug, he wiped all of the sickness from his body. However one thing did not change, Xander's body needed some other source. That is when a small slug took attention to him. Despite the sinister mechanics on his body, the Fandango slug stated near him. That gave the gang an idea. With help from Kord and their smart friends in the Slugterra Institute, Xander was successfully healed. His new source for energy was slug energy, similar to what powers Mecha Beasts. However it needed to be refueled every month. That's where they suggested that Xander kept the Fandango slug. By just keeping him around, his cell would never run dry. He would have to blast himself when it gets low, but other than that he was fine. Happy with his first real slug in two years, he named him Booster and proclaimed him the leader of his new team. He then joined the Shane Gang as being a intelligence op for the gang for what Blakk had planned.

Xander himself is a very good being. The incident caused him to be more loyal and afraid of those powerful. He is also now worried on how some would react to his looks and how he can never exactly "take off his armor" as what some people once asked. He treats his slugs like his friends and they like him back. It was hard finding a team of slugs that could not mind his appearance, but thanks to Booster it was made possible. The blaster is built inside his right lower arm. His team awaits on a pack attached to his back or a few on his belt. The left eye piece helps with precise targeting. He names all of his slugs on what they do or how they behaved when he first got them.
