Description I'm finally done! Honestly though I'm not that proud of my work here. The most apparent problem being her axe bass, IT'S TOO DAMN SMALL!!! But by the time I realized that, I had already inked too much to change it. I'm considering coloring it but I'll just let it be black and white for now.

Hope you all still like it. ^_^

Long Live the Vampire Queen!!!!

What fandom are you thinking of using? AT or something else? Maybe I can think of something if you can let me know. Though admittedly, I'm having trouble thinking of more Adventure Time fanart myself. You can blame My Little Pony for that...

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2012-06-29 06:35:35 +0000 UTC]

I was kind of thinking of Samurai Jack, Futurama, and American Dad. Or a video game, maybe Tekken. The show Kappa Mikey has been on my mind too. *sigh* So many ideas, so little time.

Have you heard of God Hand, it's a video game. Not a lot of people know about it, but it's a really great game, so I don't understand why. Main point though, I was planning to maybe do fan art of that.
You don't have to make Adventure Time fan art. If MLP is what inspires you just roll with it. Besides your MLP fan art is so cute.

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2012-07-01 10:10:40 +0000 UTC]

I haven't watched Futurama or American Dad in AGES. I used to like them shows but it's been so long that I can't even remember the characters I googled Samurai Jack to see what it was and I gotta say I like the animation. It's different and interesting. Purely from the look of it, I'd say go for Samurai Jack and besides... Samurais are always cool Though Tekken is pretty awesome too so... Y'know what, I'm not helping much. Ignore me, I'm being useless!

I hate to say it but... I haven't heard of it either. I shall have to do more googling and see what it's about.
D'aww... Thank you kindly.
The only reason I'm wary about doing MLP fanart really is because half of my watchers come from the AT fandom and I don't want to spam them with fanart for a fandom they're interested in. It is a predicament And of course, I do still love AT. Why so many awesome shows?!

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2012-07-01 11:41:22 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I see. That makes sense, so I guess you better get to work on some AT art.

Well don't say that, you did help. You suggested Samurai Jack, so that's what I'm gonna do. I don't know if my rendition will be as epic as the show was, but I'll try. Then I'll post it so you can see it. And yes, samurais are always cool. ^_^

Samurai Jack was actually one of my younger day shows, along with Justice League, X-men, Static Shock and a whole bunch of other Super Hero related shows. I only watch American Dad now, which is just as well since I most likely wouldn't have understood any of the jokes before.

And that I shall!
Hehe, glad I was somewhat helpful to you there as I sat drooling over the animation. Not sure exactly why I like it only that I do. Ignore me, I'm being useless again Anyway, I'm sure it'll look great.
I've always thought superheroes were cool... except Superman. It's nothing personal but I just don't like the way he only has ONE weakness and can REVERSE TIME. It's just... How is that even fair, dude?! I'd like him more if he was a little bit less... indestructible. I guess that's one reason why Batman's my favourite hero, because he's human and not at all bulletproof and stuff.

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2012-07-03 09:12:34 +0000 UTC]

Alright, I'll be looking forward to it.
You know, after I'm finished with my Samurai Jack fan art, I was thinking of making a Princess Bubblegum drawing. I'm not sure if I'm going to color them.

Superman is a bit too indestructible for my taste and too much of a boy scout, it makes for a bit of a draggish story line. Plus the fact that he has all of those cool powers but never really uses them, that was something I never really understood. He is still pretty good from time to time and things wouldn't be the same without him. It's kind of funny though that Batman can beat him, even though he doesn't have super powers. Brains really does beat brawn. lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2012-07-07 21:33:32 +0000 UTC]

Princess Bubblegum is cool but she scares me a little. I dunno... I also like her more with her hair shorter like in the 'What was missing?' episode. Not sure why, I just find her less... scary

Superman would be a better character I feel if he used his powers when he wasn't saving the world instead of being so damn perfect, like reheating a Pot Noodle with laser vision or something. I think it'd make him more... fun. Also, Batman is awesome. He shall forever rule supreme

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2012-07-08 10:33:34 +0000 UTC]

How is Princess Bubblegum scary? lol I agree with you though, she did look better with short hair. Oh, and also the episode with that crazy door guy that took their stuff and they had to form a band to get the door open, her hair looked good in that one too. (sorry, I didn't remember the title. hehe)

Superman would be a lot cooler if he would loosen up a little bit, and yeah do something like what you said. He just needs to be a bit more, I don't know, human. You know who else I like a lot? Wonder Woman. I know she can be a bit too much of a feminist, but I guess that is one of reasons I like her. ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2012-07-10 17:38:02 +0000 UTC]

Underneath it all she has a psychotic streak. I can't remember what episode but Finn and Jake were delivering something to the Candy Kingdom, some special food or something and she mentioned them getting beaten up or something on the trip and she laughed. Yeah... In that moment I though 'dear God, she's crazy', swiftly followed by 'I shall never look at her the same again' and I was right. She still scares me... a lot.
Wonder Woman is the essence of woman power. She's gotta be respected for that!

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2012-07-12 07:50:22 +0000 UTC]

That explains it. But she couldn't be crazier than that lemon-headed guy or the Ice King. lol

I saw Wonder Woman recently, an animated movie, and just like everything else that inspires me, I wanted to draw it. So maybe I'll make something some time. I haven't exactly been moving with the Samurai Jack project, but I'm definitely not gonna dump it, I'll just put it on hold for now.

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2012-07-14 23:11:42 +0000 UTC]

Lemongrab is totes insane. All that 'fify years dungeon!' thing was just too much... Ice King's crazy is legit though. I didn't see the backstory episode but I've seen fanart and dude, how depressing...

Animation holds a special place in my heart. I guess it's cuz it's more artistic. I loved Kung Fu Panda for it's animation, truly some of the best I've seen in that film.
More on topic, Wonder Woman is awesome. Do eet!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2012-07-15 11:01:49 +0000 UTC]

Agreed. Those two are in a class of their own when it comes to crazy. We use that line a lot in our house, the whole " twenty years dungeon, go on, move it" I liked that episode a lot. It was freakin' hilarious! The Ice King's backstory was also a Christmas special. As usual it was some major crazy sauce.

There's nothing like animation. I would choose a cartoon over a movie any day. Kung Fu Panda was one of the best movies that came out in 2010. Everything about it was done to perfection, EVERYTHING.
And you know what, I think I will do something Wonder woman related, as soon as I use up the inspiration I got from a music video I'm freaking over.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2012-07-17 22:16:26 +0000 UTC]

Lemongrab is just so funny... and hopeless. I wish I'd seen the Ice King episode. I'll have to track it down at some point and watch it.
Kung Fu Panda made me consider animation as a future career. I loved the scenery and the architecture they designed for it. It was beautiful. So much detail and colour, I was just... in awe forr the whole thing PLUS they got some big Hollywood names in there. Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu, Jackie Chan, Dustin Hoffman and of course Jack Black. There are more but seriously... How did Dreamworks do that?! You sly people, stealing all the famous ones...
Music and their vids seriously inspire half of what I do. I always have music playing... So, what vid is it that's got ya' freaking out over it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArtCrawl In reply to TheBearBones [2012-07-20 10:29:56 +0000 UTC]

It's 2ne1's new song "I love You". I doubt you've heard about them, although they're starting to kick off internationally I don't think they're that well known. It really inspired me to make something, especially the part where they are on the train and also when Minji is holding that purple umbrella in the snow in a kind of meiji era Japan setting. Love it. I haven't gotten to working on it yet cause I'm working on a Princess Bubblegum fan art and also I'm slow. lol
I only allow myself to listen to music when I'm inking, it helps me to work faster when I do. But that's not the case when I do the penciling part, I have to have as much silence as possible so I can concentrate, get ideas and work things out.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2012-07-26 20:20:02 +0000 UTC]

Nah, I haven't heard of them. It's always a shame when talent gets brushed off though. It needs to be nutured and shared with the world. It seems like all the best talent gets ignored because they don't have some major company backing them up.
I find music to be the most easily inspiring thing. The tone of the music comes out in what I draw or helps me to chill and be patient when I need to. That music vid sounds pretty cool though And I can't wait to see that PB fanart too. My problem is the opposite yet exactly the same. I'm slow because I lose inspiration too quick then have to leave it for a while and wait for it to come back. It usually does but I've always got several different things going on and half a dozen WIP dotted around.
I can't not listen to music when I do things. It's strange. If I go for a walk, go to town, go to a shop, stop in McDonalds, sit in my room, I always have music going. I don't much like silence. When it's quiet I have nothing to focus on... That sentence made sense in my mind. It did. But then I typed it and now it doesn't.

Aw, I have so many instances where I think of something and then I say it and then I think "what did I just say". But don't worry, so far all of your messages made sense.
I contemplate bringing an Ipod with me everywhere I go, because for some reason lately I've been getting in some pretty boring situations that just need something fun to make it bearable. Then again it might not be such a good idea cause when I listen to music I tend to dance and not as unnoticeabley as I thought. I also sing a lot, practically all the time, it's a weird habit but it helps me feel less nervous.
Yeah, it's a great video, pretty much loaded down with inspiration if you ask me, but I don't expect everyone to have the same opinion.
Man, that's a fact. Way too many talented people get ignored and have to struggle more than some very untalented people do.

I hate when I lose my inspiration. I'm the total opposite of you on that because I almost never get back to my projects, I don't know why. So I have to finish things as fast as I can before I lose the drive for it. I can fill a Nike shoe box with my unfinished works. It really depends on how much I wanna do it though and I try my darnedest to finish it.

Usually I end up sending my messages before I realise how weird I've put what I'm trying to explain. All I can do then is facepalm and correct myself later. I'm glad I'm doing okay so far though
I bob my head when I listen to music and I mime the lyrics. I've been told that it makes me look like I'm crazy or something. Muttering to myself but meh, if the music's good then I bob my head.
Inspiration is a funny thing. It comes and goes as it pleases. One day it can pop up for me and go 'hey! You! Yes, remember that stupid little drawing you did six months ago? The one you gave up on and though you'd never finish? Yeah! Well, finish it NOW!'. It's the weirdest thing But it always feels good to actually finish a piece, even if it's been forever.

I've been finishing my pictures a lot more since I stopped coloring them by hand. Nowadays I just draw and ink them. Some of them I scan and color to send here. I can't do anything without inspiration, without it I'm like a head-less chicken just running around bumping into things.

I hate it so much when that happens. Stupid things and typos are my enemies, always looking to embarrass me when I least expect it. That's why I proof read my stuff before I send it, but even that can't prevent everything and a few "duh" moments just slip right past me. I then see it later and hope that not too many people have seen it, either that or I try to correct myself somehow.
It's so hard to listen to a good song and remember that you're the only one that can hear it when you're listening to an Ipod. It's a blessing and a curse that I'm the only one who can hear it.

TheBearBones In reply to ArtCrawl [2012-07-31 22:34:16 +0000 UTC]

I'm like that at the minute but then I've been so busy that I wouldn't know inspiration if I was beat around the head with it. I love my tablet but it's so damn HARD to use and I find it easier (because I'm lazy) to just use pencil and paper. I'm trying to get myself motivated to learn all the ins and outs of tablets.
I just talk stupid sometimes. I talk nonsense. I try to keep it to a minimum but on occasion, espcially after a few beers to loosen my thoughts, I start thinking the weirdest things and I have to share it with everyone. I get quite philosophical (spelling. Again. How do I even-?) and I start thinking real spiritually and stuff. I once spent an hour, beer in hand, pondering thought itself and religion and all sorts of weird things I neglect without alcohol. I have had so many epiphanies (epiph-what?) under the influence. I hasten to add that I have never been drunk, a fact that at my age is quite a feat. I only drink when I want to chill and listen to some music in the evening. Also, I cannot spell apparently.
If that explains some of the weird things I type then good because half the time I've had a drink before I respond to any of these messages. That toothpaste thing is one of those moments. Do ignore them. I'm usually coherent. Usually
But anywho, I'll mention it now in case you miss my journal but I'm off on holiday tomorrow so if I don't respond then it's because I'm beyond any internet connection and bravely traversing the galaxy- I mean, British rail network.

I'm working on requests for people right now, so inspiration is only at 50% capacity. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back to making my own stuff, but I know I sure will be glad when I do. Still, I'm having a pretty good time working on these requests, just hope the people I made them for like them.
A lot of the time my problem is thinking of something to write. I try writing things how I talk but it's hard to put it in a way that people can understand cause I say A LOT of weird things in the span of just one day. Sometimes I feel pretty bold and just write whatever. But most of the time I just imagine what I would write if I had the guts.

My mom gets all giggly when she has any alcohol, even the smallest amount.
Well, they do say that people's personalities are magnified when they drink something, so my mom is a happy person that's why she laughs a lot, and I'm guessing you're a smart person and that's why you think like that when you drink. But I'm pretty sure everyone is an idiot when they get too drunk. Then again, what do I know? I've never had a drink in my life. But I still hold to the part that I think you're smart.
And yes that does explain the "toothpaste post".

Well, good luck on your journey to the "land of no internet".

I'm just taking a break at the minute. I have a lot of things going on. Holidays where I'm constantly busy, more holidays, relatives that drive me crazy, my little brother driving me crazy and panic about exam results. FYI, I am not feeling good about those results. I have failed everything!... But then I'm probably just being a bit dramatic.
I try and type how I'd talk, whatever I'm thinking and I'd usually say then I'll type it. I think by writing it though you get the chance to go back and change things and clean it all up so it's more... readable. I know I do. I proof read everything.

My mum gets giggly too. She also smiles tonnes like... can't stop smiling. She's funny.
I'm glad you think I'm smart, even when inebriated I dunno. Alcohol does funny things to the brain. My dad doesn't change at all but then I've never seen him ever a little bit tipsy. He sits there with a few beers, nice and quiet just like usual... I believe, it's the boozers from his teen days that have made him so immune.
My best friend has never had a drink in her life either and it has to be respected when you've got most of the population saying that it's okay to drink. I don't understand why people my age often struggle to go out and have a good time without ending the night with their face in a gutter or something.

The journey was... surprisingly okay. Only one small crying child to bother me and I stuck my earphones in. It was a strange holiday. I walked a dog, slept on a sofa, ate takeout food and sat in a pub and played call of duty over a glass of Pepsi.
... It was awesome

That's good that you didn't have too tough of a trip. It sounds like quite a bit of fun what you were doing, playing video games, pretty much resting, right?
I remember how much that feeling sucks, when you know you didn't do well on a test, but all you can do is wait for the results. I'm done with high school now, so I don't have to worry about that for awhile, that is until I start going to college. But then again I'm not sure if I wanna go to college, might not be the thing for me. I've thought about art school, but I haven't find any good ones. I know people say that artists are always starving and stuff, but I think it's just cause people don't run their business right or have enough services to offer.

Man, I had only one request left to do. Then the next thing I know I get two more requests. I was not expecting that. I'm really happy thought that people actually want me to draw them things. So I've gotta get to it and really pick up the pace. Kind of a hard thing for slow-drawing me to do. haha

Pretty much a bunch of me time that I desperately needed It was great, though my sister's dog is... let's say overly affectionate. Man, he REALLY wanted hugs. A tenth month old dog, thigh height and he is convinced he's still a tiny puppy. I got so much unintended abuse from that dog.
I guess all I can do is wait for the results and try not to worry too much. I've probably done okay but there's the doubt that I haven't done 'okay' enough. You just gotta do what's best for you and hope it's the right decision in the long term.

Hehe Everybody loves you! It's so awesome that you've got all these people digging your art!

Yeah, I'm so glad people actually want me to draw something for them despite the fact that they're artists too. I'm still working on the requests, but I'm hella slow. Especially with this one I'm drawing right now, I really want it to look good so it's taking awhile to finish it. But I know the hard work will pay off and I'll be happy with it, not like if I had rushed and slapped it all together.
Marceline is like that, she can never get enough affection. And she purrs constantly.
You know, it would be so fun to go to an art school. Getting results for my drawings instead of something hard as butts like math would be great.

Well, that just makes your art all the more impressive. Art was compulsory for my first three years of secondary school though admittedly I think I probably learnt more from my dad than I did my teachers. Mostly it was art history and replicating old pieces and such.

Thanks. I'm having some trouble finding time to do it all. But I sure won't give up.
I learned all that I know from looking at other peoples' work and copying it, so it took awhile for me to come to terms with having a different style, cause I always wondered why my drawings don't look exactly like the artists I'm copying. I eventually realized no one has the exact same style of art even if they are similar in some ways.

I think that's the hardest part. Realising and perfecting your own style. It seems to me that I'm best at realism yet it's not a type of art that I'm particularly interested in. Then again, it's important to know the fundamentals and such in order to make art of your own. Anatomy kills me so bad...
Thanks. I think he knows it too.

Well that's cool. I think anime is my strong point. I can draw portraits somewhat, but I always mess up on the mouth, that's why I don't really do it much. I'm still trying though.
Oh yeah, anatomy is a killer, but once you get it down it stays down. I used to be terrible at drawing hands but now it's one of the easiest things to do. So it's really about practice.

I got a fresh appreciation for manga and such just this week. I was interested in it before because it's such a clean cut kind of thing but we were shown this project in my art class and this girl had done pages and pages of manga and anime for her A level and it was just brilliant. I was jelly. So jealous Especially when found out she's got her own animation company now.
I think the thing that lets me down most is my anatomy and colouring skills. I can do both but I have such an interest in animals, plants, landscapes and my fandoms that I kind of neglect human anatomy and such. It's sad... especially seen as I need that to pass this art course.
I know the basics, it's just getting it down right that's the problem.

My brother is one of those people I envy cause he's so good at drawing. I don't know why he doesn't do it anymore. But I'm better at drawing anime than he is. He's more of a portrait artist.
The artists I come across here on DA are crazy. So many good and great ones. I really wish I knew how they make their stuff the way it looks. But it would probably go the same way it went for you when you asked. It, it's just not fair!

Observational drawing is my thing I can't think up things and put them on paper easy but if I have something in front of me, 9 times out of 10 I can draw it. I gotta work on the ideas side of things... and yeah, my sister's like that. She was an amazing painter at one point. I was so sad to see it go to waste in the end after she gave it up.
Some people are just born to be artists and don't even have to think too much about it. Others, like moi, have to keep an eraser handy You'll get good though, if you have the passion for it, you'll get there. At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

That's a cool skill. I can't do anything like that. And I'm sure a lot of other artists can't do that either, so you've got a mighty dandy gift there.
I make thousands of mistakes when I draw, but still a lot less than before. So that's an improvement. Erasers are an artist's best friend, aside from the pencil that is. I can't imagine how terrible it would without an eraser.

I'm one of those people that get too many ideas for their own good. I just can't keep up. So I'm planning to write my ideas down so I don't have to strain myself to remember what they were. I've never been one for writing things down but I'm gonna try since it seems to be the only way to keep track.

Why thank you I feel awesome about myself right now thanks to you.
Yeah. Losing an eraser is like the worst thing in the world. It's terrible. Oh so sad too...
That's a good idea. I'm too disorganised to do anything like that. I tell myself to do something and I usually forget why I fetched paper to write the thing down that I wanted to remember. I dunno what it is but I swear if my name wasn't written on every piece of homework I hand in, I'd have forgotten it already.

Apparently I'm too disorganized to do it too. I completely forgot about my idea to write my ideas down. It's crazy! Oh well, I guess I'll just do what I always do and wing it.
I forget a lot of things in an instant, sometimes I forget what it is I said about three seconds after I say it. There's nothing wrong with me though, it just happens from time to time.

Yeah, I love my eraser so much. I used my last one until it was just this little speck. And 9gag said it was impossible.

Forgetting an idea to do with ideas.
Yeah, I'm like that except it doesn't happen occasionally. It's all the time. I can step out a lesson and not remember which one I just had. I'll remember eventually but sometimes it just goes for a little while.
9gag clearly doesn't know us kind of people and our erasers

Yeah, it's pretty ironic. Kind of like when someone's telling you how to walk so you don't slip and then they slip right there. Freakin' hilarious, but I try not to laugh, at least not in front of them, maybe later.

That's the best. It's even better when you catch them and stop them from falling and you're all 'what was that you said just a moment ago?'. But ice terrifies me nowadays, not entirely sure why, and I'd probably just let them fall

Yeah, it's always funny when things like that happen, mostly because they're such rare moments.
There's this certain sidewalk I slipped on one time that I am absolutely afraid of, I never walk on it anymore. Unless a car is coming and I have no choice, but I do it really carefully. Fortunately I don't slip or trip anymore for some reason. But I do stub my toes a lot.
