Description Everyone's definition of a fangirl is different...

But according to the general definition.... many respectable people I know are just considered to be mindless idiots.

But fangirls are people too... and although many have earned us a bad name... there's a good percent of fangirls who, yes, can actually read and write. They actually use proper grammar. Many of them are very polite. Sometimes you forget they're fangirls. But they still are.

And that's why I made this stamp. Just for the few of us that exist out there. ;D

I know that this stamp will backfire easily. I know that most of the people who fave this will be infamous "stupid fangirls". That's a sacrifice I'm more than willing to make. Someone needs to send out this message.

I'ma a fangirl who happends to know the difference between "your" and "you're". I guess that automatically gives some merit to my intelligence status

I'm quite a large fangirl... and an honors student who can't help but laugh out loud AND shake her head sadly when she sees people fighting over the very object of her fan-adoration. It's sad that people associate us fangirls with idiotic airheads who can do nothing but squeal.

Aw, man. I love this. So much.

Of course, I'm a little too biased to say, but I like to think of myself as a smart fangirl. Sure, I have the occasional "moment", but the important thing is knowing reality from fiction and being able to separate the two successfully (oh, and proper grammar).

I hate it when I reveal that I'm a fangirl, then the person I'm with (who knows what that is) will start talking noticably slower and will ask me things like, "Am I talking slow enough?" or "Are you hungry? Do we need to get you some fanfic to eat?" (The latter is kind of old.)

It really pisses me off. I'm 13 years old, in 8th grade, and am in 10th grade geometry. I write stories and esays. For Pete's sake, I'm a straight A student. I work at it, too. Every project, essay, story, poem, drawing, and piece of music I do goes over hours of work and revision.

I really appreciate how you're getting the message out there and telling other people that not all of us are "stupid". Thanks.

Also, I'm sorry for ranting on your stamp.

So very true.

A lot of people assume that because I'm a complete fangirl (seriously, just look at my gallery), I'm some sort of moron. Not so. I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent.

I agree with ~teh-jinxie-girlie . A smart fangirl can be a fan of, and maybe even have some kind of attraction to, a character but aren't rabid about it. (Using myself as an example-- I love Prowl from Transformers: Animated. However, if I come across someone pairing him with either another canon character or their OC, I won't freak out about it.) I take the time to read over my work to typo proof it, even asking my Englishteacher MOTHER to read over my handiwork, and get to know the characters to keep them in character.

I always assumed I was just caring about what I was doing, though. Thanks for making this stamp. *faves and uses*

teh-jinxie-girlie [2009-06-24 17:32:53 +0000 UTC]

personal smart fangirl definition: a fanigirl who understands what reality is & loves characters but is not IN-LOVE nor OBSESSED with them & don't go crazy over ppl who don't like their fandom. Plus, it's completely healthy to have compassion for a character-- when you can do that, it means the story/game/movie/etc is good.

Mini-Wolfsbane [2009-06-14 01:47:32 +0000 UTC]

Love it!

And for the record, I'm a smart fangirl and usually only get excited when I watch Gambit in a cartoon or find some cool merchandise. So far my ultimate fangirl moment in public was when I saw him in the wolverine movie. (Meaning I don't much get excited beyond reason in public much like you'd think a "typical" fangirl to do.) For the most part, you wouldn't think to look at me that I'm a fangirl. I have surprised people by saying I like comic books.

Yes, most of the fangirls I know are nice and intelligent people.
They're hyper, sure. They squee a lot, sure. But that doesn't mean that they're stupid.
They're just joking! They're having fun! That's what they do!

I must agree with the message. <3 I do admit to be a fangirl, I do admit to be a major yaoi/yuri fan, but I do use my brain and don't smash my keyboard to thousands of pieces every time I see a character I love or a steamy yaoi pic.

Kids these days, they need to take their excitement outside on a pretty day. C=

Yes! It's such a shame people don't see the difference between a fangirl and a fantard. A fangirl is exactly that; a girl who is a fan of something. Not some insane idiot smashing her keyboard all over the place when it comes to her fandom.

Cheers!

I will put it out there now that I try to be an intelligent fangirl.

I don't bite off heads if someone doesn't like what I like. Hell, I make fun of the character that I obsess over more than I shower him with praise. Most fangirls can't even take a joke when you say something like "Oh, *insert name here* is such an idiot." as a jest.

I blame the increasing number of kids crowding up the internet these days. :/

Haha, it's not easy sometimes. -sigh-

wh00t! Same here! I love to make fun of my fave characters. xDDD I mean, it's the flaws that make you love them.
But I remember I person I watched drew Sasuke stabbing himself saying he was emo, and a lot of people reacted badly to it... xDD;; I mean, if I was a fan of Sasuke (too bad I'm not xD), I actually would have loved it, but apparently not everyone agrees with me. o.o;;

Oh man. xD;;
I love how everyone joins dA when they're underage. xD;

Well, Naruto fans are in a class of their own. They'll butthurt at the first sign of disagreement. Crazy kids. :/

But there are those pairing shippers, fangirls who want to marry their targets of fandom, people who write smutty fanfiction about actual celebrities.... ahdgsjfs *shudder*

DA hadn't been around long enough for me to sign up for me to sign up while underaged, I don't think. If it was, I didn't know/care at the time. I was too fixated on pokemon, FF7, and cheesy roleplaying back in the day. >A>
