Description 20G 5/32" Surgical Stainless Euro 4 in 1 around the crown.
Surgical Stainless curb chain connected by amber beads drape the back.
Amber and Czech glass beaded drops frame the face.

The top is my own creation as well. I have more shots of it, modeled by a friend, which I plan to add soon.

*edited, the quality was killing me, I had to fix it.
Don't worry, I won't make a habit of it.

I've seen this pic on TheRingLord since a lOOONG time ago... always thought the piece was beautiful, as was the model.... Now, after I see the creator of the piece, I see what true beauty is.....

(wow.. getting poetic...)

Holy Wow! That is just stunning... I am drooling with covetous lust! The design, the colours.... Words cannot describe how much I love this piece!

Is the model (you?) wearing red contact lenses or is that a trick of the light? They seem to be perfectly coordinated with the colour scheme of the headpiece, it's a marvelous effect.

Awwww! Thank you!

No contact lenses, though I think I did do a bit of red-eye correction on this one.
Can't rightly remember though, heh.

wow, that must be a bitch to get on. i'd think you'd have to be really careful, so you don't break any chains
it's beautiful work, you have amazing skill

It's not as delicate as it looks, the chains and metal are stainless steel and very sturdy. I'm pretty rough with my stuff to make sure that it can handle a beating. . Thanks so much for the compliment!

i know how to make this type of thing in theory. but i don't have the patience to make anything beyond a pair of earrings. so i'm torn between envying the patience to make this or the body to pull it off. though i bet i could wear the headpiece just dandy

I was wondering... If someone was to wear one of those headpieces for long, would their hair still be all nice underneath like it is in the picture? Mine normally gets pretty messy, but I've never worn anything that... at least I'm assuming... would be as heavy as that so I figured it may be different...?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

VelvetHappiness In reply to VelvetHappiness [2005-07-31 04:12:30 +0000 UTC]

That's awesome... you've caught my interest :nods: My hair is straight... everything messes it up... but maybe I'll have to try something heavier like this...

It really is beautiful! ^_^

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

ArmouredRaven In reply to VelvetHappiness [2005-07-31 03:14:13 +0000 UTC]

It depends on how active you are I suppose. I can wear one all day at a faire without too much fuss, but my daughter's hair is messed up in minutes if i don't put in braids first.
This one is actually better suited for straight hair though because it has more open space in the crown.. my headpieces that have more mesh to them at the top (less open space) are better for hair that messes up easily, like very curly or frizzy hair.

Nope, I need to upload the shots of the top, heh.
It's 16G 1/4" with Bright AL and Bronze rings.

I have a few more tops finished that I still need to get photo shoots of, all in good time I suppose.

Thanks so much!

XLonewolfX In reply to ArmouredRaven [2005-07-22 16:25:42 +0000 UTC]

Nice. Birght alum has quickly become one of my more favorite metals, trailing behind stainless and sterling. Where did you get the rings from?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArmouredRaven In reply to XLonewolfX [2005-07-23 05:11:30 +0000 UTC]

Mmm, yup AL is some good stuff. I cut my own now, there seems to be more than one alloy that can be called "bright" but after going through heck and back the only one I'll use now is 5356, any other looks dull to me, or has more rub-off. You get a good batch of 5356 and it shines nearly as nice as silver.

...and actually I'm pretty sure that these are from the batch I bought from the ring lord. They looked so dull they almost look like galvy in some of the pics. Ew. I know trl does carry 5356, but not in all sizes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

XLonewolfX In reply to ArmouredRaven [2005-07-23 17:14:58 +0000 UTC]

ya 5356 is really the way to go when it comes to alum. The only problem for me anyway is that the prices for it locally seem to be double what they are anywhere eles. I just paid $8 a lb for a pound of 36" 0.0625 rods. TRL (IMHO) is good if your going to be buying wire and the like, but their rings that I have seen kind of made me shudder. Maybe it was just a bad batch that I saw, but the rings were somewat more oval than true rings.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ArmouredRaven In reply to XLonewolfX [2005-07-23 17:33:19 +0000 UTC]

Haven't had a problem with their rings shape-wise. And they sure do have great prices (wish we had someone in the states that great) ...I get all of my anodized aluminum from them and the rings are as good as you can get from non-sawcut rings. I'm spoiled on saw cut now though, which is *pricey* unless you do it yourself. You perhaps did just see a bad batch? Hehe, I dunno... :blah blah: I don't really order from them *that* often, so maybe I'm just always getting good batches.
