Spyro the dragon was an 8month project that i took up last year.I had to waith a year before i applied to a art course in my town and the last time i hade a interview it ust dident go well i mean a monkey with a tie would have done better.it was all my fault of course for not being prepared so this time i was going to prove to them and myself that i could make somthing that doesent just take a week to do but what to do im interested in lots of things and one day i was talking to my sister about the old spyro games and laughed at the idea of seeing a life size spyro and then it hit me.
it took 8months and alot of blood sweat and tears and with the help of my loved ones i finaly completed it.
It stands 4 and a half feet high and 5feet long and i couldent tell ya how much he weighs but i does take 2people to lift it.
he is made of a wooden frame and lots and lots of coke bottles pva glue and i used daz clay over him. The red part of his wings are umberella material so it could stand the rain and a clear varnish to protect it against the weather.i am also creating a door to avalar to match the clay figure but thats not done just yet.
hope you like spyro and hope it inspires you to take up a project like him its alot of work but the feeling you get when its done is unbeslivable.

was supposed to be the biggining of a childrens project like id make their fav characters for their back garden etc but due to the effort and cost value it just wasent plossible plus the idea that it was suppose to be out side was another big thing but for it to be weather durable it would have to be made out of plaster,cement,stone and at the time i really dident have the necesssary equepment to deal with stuff like that.im just glad their was at one point a life size spyro the dragon and i hope fans really do like this
cant remember the exact messurments but it was up to my chest and at least 5 foot long...awe those were the days plus it finaly was the breaking point for my naggy girl friend at the time lol she wasent imprest i was spending my money on this project and not her.

awe well you see as i was putting on the varnish to protect it my girl friend was suppose to put it on the feet but see dident do a good job so add that with the fact that it was probably one of the wetest summers for ages plus i had it in the garden so when my dad was cutting the grass he smahed bits and dident think it was a big deal so mousture got in and he decayed from the inside out,so before he became a big mess of wet clay i took him apart,was really proud coz even then he was still quit sturdy but it had to be done.poor spyro but he still lasted for a couple of mounths and in that time he was epic lol.

well you see i made him to be a garden orniment...dident think he would break considering i took great lengths to protect him from the weather but in the end mother nature disolved him from the indide out...it was very sad but enevitible.

Wow I cant tell it took a long time to finish this. The details and the separate scales are a nice touch. Sparx turned out great. Fantastic job!

That looks really nice. I also like how you put Sparx in that. Have you considered selling that to a museum for anyone to see for ages to come instead of just viewing it on the internet. You could make a lot of money that way. I'm currently doing something like that in my sculpting class. But when I started it I wasn't expecting much. Eventually my sculpture turned into a landscape, and then the landscape turned into a dragon habitat. Then I sculpted two little dragons to go with it, plus a nest of eggs in a small cave.
Once again, that looks very nice. You get a trophy.

ya its not really alot of fun but ive been told thats what first year is and in second year thats were all the gud crack happens.
again cant waith to make more clay figures and big projects like spyro again.

Awesome work! I love it!
Once I get the right materials, I'm gonna be making a Lego Minifigure-version of Spyro-and maybe Cynder.

thanks for the complements im realy glad you like them.the old games are cool but how could you not like the triology its spyro mixed with lord of the rings and starwars.spyro riped off those movies it was funny although i did want to inflicked harm on the people who made dawn of the dragon.
again glad you like the clay models but before i got draged into the spyro thing i made lots of soul reaver clay models and demons i just dont have pictures of them yet but will do soon if your interested.

I mean, I like the triology, but, I always thought the older ones were better. I mean, I'm playing the last Game of the Spyro Triology,and its actually pretty cool that he can fly now.

realy glad you like flying in dawn of the dragon but if you could shoot fire balls like the old games i think it would be better.im not an obsessed spyro fan iv just got drawn into it coz of the project iv been doing.im just glad you injoing your game.

If you like spyro you might like the door im making it even has one of the orbs from spyro 2 and a paintig in the middle so hopfuly it looks like you can walk true it.

the best thing about him is the freckils.
if you touch his nose they are like little bumps,it's just fun to do.
when i first made him his eys were white and could be seen in the dark it scared the crap out of my girlfriend hahaha she was an idiot.
im going to be finished the gateway to glimmer soon so keep in touch.

you have no idea how much of a scardy cat she was,half the time she got scared of her own shadow it was funny but it freaked me out at times aswel,lets keep that our little secret..im afraid the weather has taken its toul on spyro id say im gonna have to distroy him soon.thats going to be a sad day.
