Description The Vanquishing Bull...

One of my first oil paintings... 1973..

Harsh themes then... Greece was coming out of a 7 years dictatorship... Blood was boiling... Gore, a punch in the stomach of the complacent viewers...
You see I was not always full of subtle colors and hidden meanings...
I'll post and other pieces from this "wild" period..

No time then for subtle messages but for cruel ones... The time that the powerful and innocent bull vanquishes it's tormentor...
Anyway the human gladiator prays for his soul...

OMGosh that's too much for my "delicate disposition"!!! It always freaks me out to think of such cruel sport, and how others exult in it!

I hate it my self...and it surely it is not a sport... although the meaning here is a metaphorical one...
