Yeah, lotsa scales, but you did great! It's a marvelous picture. Any time you feel like taking a shortcut, remember this cautionary picture, and say, er, I'll just take a break and maybe continue tomorrow:

For ProjectComment !
I like this a lot!
The lighting is interesting, especially the eyes and neck, the picture is detailed and the symmetry is fairly well executed. Much props for drawing out all those scales. As an added plus, the way the snakes stick out on the page makes my eye linger on Medusa's face. Your skill with the pencil is shown in this piece.
However, there are a few things to note:
Firstly, your allusion. Medusa is supposed to be an ugly Gorgon. She was once beautiful, but after being raped by Zeus in Athena's temple she was made terribly ugly AND given snakes on her head . Of course, everyone has artistic license, but we have to back it up with purpose. Here, I interpret your purpose as to portray technical skill via a common cultural symbol. In other words unless you have a reason to distort something, don't. Of course, art is also about self-fulfillment, so if you like her pretty and would hate her ugly, keep her pretty. It's your drawing, after all.
Buuuuut... you might want to consider uglifying her, as my eye lingers on her face already, and that mug, if turned ugly, would have a big impact ! Also, not all your snakes are equal in quality. There are various errors with them from thickness and lighting that make them inconsistent. I think it's important to have them as quality as Medusa's eyes here. The snakes are the most intricate elements to be studied in this drawing, and should keep me interested. Their irregularities put me off.
As for Medusa's body shape, I can see her right (our left) shoulder but not her left (our right) shoulder. The neck is slightly off, too. Since this is a front-to-front stare down of Medusa's face, I expect her neck and shoulders to be symmetrical, but when I see they are not I get confused. I cannot see the rest of her pose to justify why her upper body looks irregular. Also, her collar bones are too pronounced and don't look like raises of the skin. Try and shade it in with a gradient, or crop the image. Her head, also, is very short at the top for her long facial proportions. If you add above it to about the top of the page it will be more proportionate. Your lighting, coming in from the left, would be more dramatic if the shadows on the right were darker.
Nice work! I am just exhausted at the though of filling in all those scales....

I really like this drawing. I like the details you put into the snake hair. You also did really well with the shading, but the thing that stands out to me is the top of her head is considerably wider than the lower portion of her head. As well as the face seems to short in my opinion. Also a few of the snakes in the top center seem to be cut off? Or like partiality erased. Other wise this is a very nice drawing.

I like the concept-MEDUSA being a faimous known paint- i like your concept-in my opinion- i think the snakes...could be more black- as contrast with all the draw, and also the dimensions of the head are too big- in the eyes area, but is a good-draw- you have a great hand, and i am sure you will be an great artist.

The scales on the snakes are great. I can appreciate the amount of work and long time it took to make such meticulous detail. However her head looks a little wide to me.

The scales came out so amazing though. Everything about from head to....snake head is amazing.
