"The Overseer started as a thrall herder, his primary job to keep the ape-like subhumans working. Like all the others of his kind, he was bred for it and dispassionately removed from his mother at birth. When he was old enough to work, he was tattooed according to his talents (almost a bar code) and set to work. While he enjoyed the feeling of power over the thralls, the ease of which he got it soon lost it's glamor. Hungry for more, he combined ruthlessness and ingenuity to climb the ranks and enjoy power over his brethren. This worked well for many years, until he reach the top and earned the title Overseer. He was awarded Sallaster the Great Whip as his tool and he was lord over all the Worker Caste. He could climb no further. Worse still, he was subordinate to the warriors and aristocracy, even if they were unaccomplished idiots. It was then the Overseer began to dream of getting rid of them altogether..."
