For the past 7 years Dante has received a letter on the exact same day, down to the same hour as well. It was system, the only check in encouraged within their community. The rest of the year he could ignore any familial ties, just as his mother and father did the same, but on that one day it was expected to make an effort. The letter would be received, and a response was expected by the next day via a similar way. It had only added to the silent war between Dante and his father, a letter sent by talisman, and a response given back by familiar. They'd exchange brief pleasantries, or as pleasant as things got between the three, then move into a barely personal report of the years goings. It might have been careless of the younger witch, but he'd actually dained to include further personality in his previous letter. He had added details about his rescue, spurred on by a familiar that reminded him of the perfect companion to his mother. He had almost expected another reply the very next day, either to outrage or consideration.

But this... A year passed, Dante would be found in his home and only his home. Instead, he was found among the spacious halls of the palace of Lust, and not alone in his walk. Not even Amarena had ever been with him when he was expecting a letter, and yet this happened because for once, he wasn't. The date had slipped his mind, his companion disrupting his routines to where it hadn't come to mind as a worry. And perhaps it wouldn't have been. Of course, that would've been only if a simple letter had been delivered to him. The heavy envelope and probably heavier package, carefully posed on the antlers of a onyx buck, would have been a warning sign even within his personal home. He'd been told enough times that his failure would be his own downfall, there was no way that his father would have willingly sent anything more than trouble. The true question is what happens now, the disappointing son stuck staring into the empty sockets of his father's harbinger.
