And it looks like Nulmiril will be learning Kadír's language. Or at least whatever dialect he's willing to share with her - dwarves were somewhat reluctant to teach Khuzdul to just anybody...

I like the dynamic with these two. Not being able to understand each other gives a lot of room for other ways to communicate that you don't often see.

i love how surprised kadir gets that she picked up the word. like... "wait back up you understood that?"
like, she's been around him for a couple months now, and this is the first time she's ever shown an inkling of understanding things he's said. or attempting to puzzle out his words. and nulmiril's laughing because he's just so damn happy and all she said was "lemon". and then she gets bored with language lessons while kadir is this five year old kid like "LET ME SHOW YOU THIS!" and showing her like EVERYTHING he owns and repeating the words over because she understands and if she learns enough words they can talk like really talk and he can explain how he feels about her and get to know her better and try to find out why she seems so sad and alone at times and GEEZ I LOVE YOUR CHARACTERS :3
and the last one is just cute. (though now i wonder what nulmiril means...)

I really enjoy reading your comments - it really helps me gauge how well I narrate.
I am keeping the timing ambiguous - without defining the passage of time and how long they've spent together. How well does that work? Also the fonts - is it clear when she's speaking her language and when she switches to his. Also accents.
And funny story - she says "fork" even though he's holding up a spoon. My first sketch did have him hold up a fork, but it looked silly and I was too tired to draw it better… and I guess also too tired to notice the typo. Cracks me up now.

i actually noticed he was holding a spoon XD
and the timing is pretty ambiguous. it just kind of felt like there had been a good passage of time since they first met, given nulmiril's pretty much fully recovered and that probably would have taken some time to begin with. but it's good to keep it that way, since neither of them is probably noticing much of the passing of time either.
and i actually have a hard time telling the difference between fonts without you having said anything, to be honest. didn't even notice you were using different ones... until i looked again. but looking a little closer makes it much more obvious that the fonts are different. you might want to add more weight to one to make it stand out just a little more.
not sure what you mean by accents, but if you mean within the writing, then i hadn't noticed... but if Kadir is speaking his native language, then there should be no reflection of an accent anyways. it would only show up if he started speaking, say, nulmiril's native language. so, even though i'm sure they both have their own, Kadir's wouldn't be apparent, and trying to give one to nulmiril would be difficult since you're using english to display both.

Now that he's trying to open some avenue of verbal communication between the two of them, I wonder if he'll attempt to explain more of how he feels to her. Though I get the feeling she might grow more discontented at that :C

:C It's sad because she doesn't really reciprocate. I think if he becomes able to eventually communicate with her more clearly about how he feels for her, she would get more and more anxious. Like, she can't continue justifying making him happy for a short time if he opens up to her and she sees more clearly how much she risks hurting him, but at the same time she's too worn and world-weary to return his affections.
Or something like that.

But please trust me - you learn with each drawing. And you will learn with each one if you continue to draw. :3

For some reason I am very intrigued and captivated by this story. I don't know what it is but it is just very heartwarming and I absolutely love the concept of it. And I also like the fact that they can't really understand one another and that they're from 2 completely different worlds but yet they have some sort of bond between them. And because they don't fully understand each other it makes the story more appealing and I think it adds a sense of tenderness and intimacy. But I'm rambling now, so anyways I really hope you continue on with this story. I would really like to see the progression of their relationship and whatever else you have in store for them.
