Rubber face? :b
And the evil guy is⦠well, I guess I'll eventually reveal it. :b
Thanks for liking my rocks, by the way⦠I really do hate painting them - they need to look random, yet not patterny, yet not too busy. Shading the skin is so so so SO much easier.

Oh thank you! With rocks it's funny - you have to pay enough attention not to pay TOO much attention to what you're doing

really liking the progression here. especially mr.purple. he reminds me something of jafar, the elegance and intelligence. but not watered down for children, clearly. and the golden sand is interesting; i wonder what he's plotting. i also like the dynamic between him and gur; sort of officer to field commander. like gur is the real leader of the men, but mr.p is the one paying the bill so the have to listen to him, even when they don't like it. and gur's name is a nice tough, as well; more to add to his rough and tumble crudeness. and gur's expression in the last panel, like "i have no idea what he's planning but i'm not sure if i like it."
also, mr.p's slit pupils. how did i miss them? i love slit pupiled villains. (heroes, too, but villains especially). a reminder of reptiles, of things that slither and sneak and strike without mercy.
also, the little beard cut the way an evil goatee usually is. also just noticed. i also like that gur is not stupid. crude, yes, but not stupid. he seems experienced in his work, if his work id slitting throats and general banditing. he's not a gambler, he's with mr. p because he saw some use in it, but now his wisdom is questioning this choice. he doesn't trust mr. p, and mr. p doesn't expect him too, probably mutually distrusts gur but does trust his love for glitter. he's already shown his disdain for mortals, he would think them all simple, tiresome and predictable. it would be interesting to see if his underestimation of mortals brings about his downfall.
and i love all mr. p's expressions. so regal and condescending, so elegant and malevolent. honestly he's shaping up to be my favorite kind of villain. the repentantly evil, the refined energy of darkness. loving it <3

Mr. P!
He'll need a real name eventually. I have to come up with a graceful way of revealing who he is without doing an omnipotent narrator "Meanwhiling" in a yellow text box over the storyline. In the meantime, I think we'll just contend with him being a bit of a dick. β¦oookay, maybe more than a bit.
I don't know how well it comes across, but him and Gur are different types of villains. The latter is a thug. He's the dregs of society, living in harsh conditions, surviving on Valar only know what. He'd be more likely to invent dynamite than to take a bath. And thus, he's hairy, sweaty and gross.
And I don't think his de facto leader would want to touch him in fear of catching a parasite β¦or five. And doesn't care much for Gur in general - the thug will be dead in a year or two anyway.
But he takes care of himself. β¦Maybe even uses perfume. Though I don't think he can do much about his skin's violet hue. It makes him stand out and I can see it being a point of vanity. Just like his purple hat.

XD yes, i picked up on that exactly. i love the contrasting villains working together. and that you don't seem to promote one as better than the other, just different.Β
and oh mr.p, he is my favorite kind of villain. but perhaps scented oils over perfume? used to clean as well as smelling good, so double hitter. and why he can stay so clean with a lack of water. and his hat is awesome.Β
and you could always have miri see him and, if she knows him, hiss out his name or something, idk... or gur gets exceptionally incensed and does a "now look here, [insert name], i'm tired of you being a dick!"
just a few suggestionsΒ

Scented oils would seem to work better for the ancient timeframe.
As for how he keeps clean? Hm⦠perhaps he takes sand baths like I've seen sparrows do in the summer?

I have a reeeeeeally old Intuos 4β¦ :\
It's served me well, but it doesn't support stylus rotation within CS6 and the stylus itself is falling apart, so even ignoring the CS6 brush settings, I should start thinking about getting a new one.

These are all gorgeous, i'm glad you've continued on with the story.
Also, your comments in the description cracked me up. It's a metaphorical oasis where we find relief from the desert that is our lives. There, that works.

"Desert Oasis" is also what I think when I get home and turn on my humidifier this winter. >>
And I'm a bit at a loss of words for amazed I am that you watch me! You were like, my hero as I was doodling back in school and I wanted to grow up just like you! I have no idea how you weren't on my watch list still, but that's fixed now. :]
Just again, omg!!

Well, now I'm imagining a humidifier somehow worked into the story in a The Gods Must Be Crazy-esque way.
Aw, that's crazy! But I'm super flattered, thank you! I think it's now time for me to want to grow up and art like you. Your art is wonderfully expressive and painterly (and of course elves and lady dwarves!). I may have to step up my game now.
