Description Since I've been doing quite a bit of Fire Emblem fanfiction art lately, I decided I needed to pump out something for my Zelda fanfiction and my ultimate Zelda monster (not counting bosses) was a great idea to do. :3

I call it the Dragolfos. Yeah, it's from the same "family" as Lizalfos, Dinolfos, Stalfos, etc. As you can see, it's a two-legged armored dragon and quite fearsome (the blood, man). It also wields a serrated sword. This creature is supposed to be strong, intelligent, and overall tough to beat. It has several weapons in its arsenal to use against its enemies, including its sword, claws and teeth, long tail, fire breath, and heck, even its wings can be used to blow strong gusts of wind and such. Also, alongside its fire breath, the Dragolfos can also breathe a gas called knock-out gas, which, as its name suggests, knocks the victim out cold upon contact. How long the receiver is out depends on how much of the gas he or she was exposed to. Lastly, it's fast in the air and not easy to hit.

As powerful, ruthless, and deadly as the Dragolfos is, however, it still has weaknesses. It's rather slow on the ground due to its armor and overall bulk. It can only breathe its knock-out gas through its nose for an unknown reason and must use it at very close range for it to be effective. It's also not very difficult to predict when this creature uses the gas (if it closes its mouth and starts inhaling, that's usually the cue). Lastly, it generally lacks the ability to attack from afar and its armor does not guard its back side due to the requirement of slits for the wings to sit in.

So what do y'all think? Dragons have never been my best area in drawing, but I have to admit I'm pretty proud of myself here. ^^

PS: Btw, it has blue eyes for a reason. Some Dragolfos also have golden eyes.

Your Dragolfos look very similar to the Aeralfos

I'm afraid I don't see the resemblance.Β  Besides, I created the Dragolfos before the Aerolfos existed.

lol, it sucked.Β  It wasn't nearly as original and I didn't have the Sky Guardian thing going on as heavily as I do now.Β  Kelli was rather Mary-Sueish too.Β  Made loooots of changes since then.Β  Even rewrote the whole thing a couple times.

Ha! That's how it is with a story I'm writing! The main character gets transported to another world by going through a closet. And then I realized it was too Narnia-ish...

So, you say this guy is going to appear in the Zelda fic? As a common foe or a boss? Well, either way, I like the looks of him. You did a great job on the horns, wings and armor and I just love the way you drew his sword. The notion of the knock-out gas is also interesting, I don't think that's been done before. The gusts of wind was something that sprang to my mind also at first glance, great minds think alike. You say this one has blue eyes? I probably couldn't tell with my eyesight, but you also say that there are some golden eyed ones too. Are the golden eyed ones different from the blue eyed ones, aside from needed the Moon Sword to kill them? Well, in any case, this intrigues me and I look forward to this critter making an appearance. Thanks for letting me know about this guy and catch you later.

A mini-boss, to be exact. And the only difference between Dragolfos with blue eyes and Dragolfos with golden eyes are just that one is a moon aligned monster or monster of darkness and the other is a monster of light or sun aligned monster. So yes, needing different swords to kill them is pretty much the only difference.

Thanks, Falchion! :3

One thing I'm wondering though, you mentioned this guy breathes knockout gas. Does the gas live up to the name? Or, since Link is possessed of such hero-ness, does he have some partial resistance? I say 'partial' because he'd stay concious but he might, for instance, become dizzy and sluggish.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2011-01-11 21:30:20 +0000 UTC]

Yep, it lives up to its name alright. Anyone, even the Sky Guardians, will easily be knocked out cold by it.

Falchion1984 In reply to Anacybele [2011-01-11 21:42:17 +0000 UTC]

Interesting. I wonder how Link deals will deal with it; after all, if he did get knocked out cold in the middle of a fight then the Dragolfos could just lob his head off and be done with it. Maybe Link learns about this danger in advance and has some sort of anti-toxin? Or, maybe Kelli and/or Navi step in and help? Either way, I'm interested in finding out.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Anacybele In reply to Falchion1984 [2011-01-11 21:50:32 +0000 UTC]

Actually, what's interesting is that Dragolfos don't immediately kill a victim of their knock-out gas. They think "where's the fun in that?" and would rather play with them for awhile before tearing them apart.

And yeah, Kelli will almost always be with him whenever a Dragolfos appears.
