Description Ivalice Monster Compendium Entry#17

In Ivalice there are three documented species of dragon; all of them ancient, powerful, and terrifying. The first is the fiercesome fire wyrm, or red dragon to those aren't aware of its proper name. This species is the most common and thus the most dangerous as its proximity to civilization has cured it of nearly all caution or fear when around humaniods. Out of all the dragons, fire wyrms are the most notorious man eaters and will gladly dine on humes, bangaa, and clanners almost exclusively. They seem to enjoy devouring young maidens, especially virgins. Weither this is due to purity of heart and soul, or a difference in taste is widely debated. The only other prey they feed on are Bombs and Jellys which being living beings made from fire, are a consistant food source and a healthy way regain spent elemental energy.

Fire wryms are, unsurprisingly, of the fire sub type and thus have strong affinity for fire and a coresponding weakness to ice. They make their lairs mostly in deep, lava drenched depths of Rhoda Volcano. Fire wryms thankfully, are not constantly active. Going into hibernation through the winter months and emerging to hunt, breed, and fight for territory during the late spring and through the summer. During the fall they begin saving pyronic (fire element) energy for use during their next hibernation the following winter.

As any clanner that has the misfortune of facing a fire wyrm can tell you, the red dragons of Rhoda are perhaps one of the most terrifying monsters in existance, appearing more like berserk demons or ire driven primordial gods of fire then large reptilain creatures that breath fire. A fire wyrm's first line of defense are its deadly fangs and claws. The fangs having been stained a charcoal black from hundreds of years of breathing flame; the claws eventually following suit. Due to its immense size and strength, a fire wyrm can easily bite a mans head clean of his shoulders with one snap of its powerful jaws. Jaws that are capable of delivering over 1500 tons of pressure with teeth as long as a mans fore arm.

Being heavily armored in thick scales as strong as steel, fire wyrms do not injure easily. Magic being the only sure fire way of breaching their hides and impressive constitutions. If faced with heavy opposition or a single powerful foe the fire wyrm will fall back on its ultimate weapon, a massive blast of fire shot from its gaping maw. Generally the breath attack is so strong that even firaga pales in comparison. The landscape melting under the infernal torch of the dragons fury. A fire wyrm loves nothing more than to nuke clanners that have bunched together in an effort to slay it.

Should a foe prove a hassle to take down with force alone, a fire wyrm will sometimes use skill known as Guard Off. Issuing a stream of corrosive steam and gas from its mouth, the fire wyrm rusts, scalds, and weakens its preys armor. This is of course to make such prey easier to bring down and devour. Only mature fire wryms have enough control over their breath to perform this cunning trick.

Fire wyrms are the shortest lived of the three dragon species. Reaching only roughly 600-800 years due to their violent behavior and aggressive, territorial mindset. Some believe they can live far beyond that but never get the chance due to fatality and constant conflict with civilization.

I'm loving the work and detail you put into these monster bios. Now, since I've read your comments on your Masterberry entry, I can't help but see (and hear) you as a Nu Mou. XD

Being that in Ivalice that Nu Mou are effectively the sages of the world, it would make sense that they are the ones that catergorize and write down any information pretaining to a monster's habitat and such. Humes probably do it too but are more focused on the practical like what they'd get out of slaying and how to kill it with minimal risk. This was also back when I signed all my comments lol. I had no idea how irritating that was to people until someone pointed it out.

I can't get the image out of my head now. A nu mou beastmaster (possibly wearing a dragon claw on a cord around his neck) sitting in his study and wearing little reading glasses as he records what he observed about the monsters he was studying in the field. XD
I personally don't see how signing your comments could be irritating, but then again, that's just me. However, I find it helpful if there's a link in the comment to show it's not just a computer-generated comment leading to spam or a virus or something.

By the end of his journey he was probably a badass Morpher. Probably traveled with a Hunter and Blue Mage for company as they each would have their own reasons for seeking out the various monsters across Ivalice.

Hmm, a Morpher could work, too. But he'd still probably have those little reading glasses.

Thanks lol. I kinda expected this to get ignored, so many Red Dragons on here that its easy to get lost in the throng.

lol thanks . I'm assuming that people haven't commented on it because of the search words I put in for them (hard to find), its a Final Fantasy Tactics Advance pic that doesn't have a Veira Red Mage (not very popular otherwise), and its basically yet another red dragon (in an astronomical sea of red dragons).

There's at least two more of a different species in the series. You can check them out if you like.
