Description Paua Shell, faceted black spinel, golden sheen obsidian - and all wire is 1/10 silver filled, the clasp is sterling silver.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sedna is the Inuit Goddess of the animals of the Sea, who is considered malevolent to humans, and greatly feared. Offerings are made to Her in an effort to win Her over and ensure plentiful hunting.

Sedna is believed to live under the Sea in a house of whale-bones and stones, and rule the realm of Adliden or Adlivin, where the Dead go to cleanse themselves of the sins of their lives.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

What's it with me and primordial sea goddesses? What can I say, they speak to me. Tiamat was a dear one to me, too:

Well, I love Sedna. Tragedy woven by desperation and betrayal, that's a helluva legend.

So I made five unique (albeit similar shaped and sized) pieces for this collar, and I suppose there might be a number of possible interpretations for it - the sea creatures that sprouted from Sedna's mutilated hands, obvious from the abalone shells, or with the netting, said creatures caught (or slipping between) fishermen's nets (or would those be fish scales?), the small, shiny beads like pearls dancing on the edges of the nets - or might I think of the entire piece as Sedna's domain, her dwelling in Adlivin?

In other news, both A Myriad Vice and Avera Studio Supplies have gone into Christmas sale mode. Do stop by.

Have you sold this piece yet? As a resident of the north with many Inuit friends, I'm sure someone would love to own this (myself included!).

Oh, I have not yet. I was thinking of listing it on [link] before I leave for the great white north myself, on Wednesday. XD

Maybe I'll go do that in a minute...

I like the whole concept of this piece. Everything is strong while staying light and it doesn't burden the eyes too much. Very well done.

Well, your necklaces must be time-consuming, but they worth the time! Congratulation, and I'm glad that a story can inspire you this much! This is a nice thing, keep your good habit and connection with the goddesses!

I would LOVE to see a detail, up close shot of one of those lovely clusters- I just showed my mother this picture. She thinks you should be doing some alternates of your stuff on an actually display, so she (she's a total stickler for this, please don't take this the wrong way) get a feel for the real shape of the pieces. Less this one the other ones I've shown her in the past, flat displayed wire-work pieces.

it's so complex! I had a real feel for the sea, even before I got to the description. XP I actually nagged my mother back into the room to show her this one so she could really appreciate what your skill level was, because I'd pulled up another piece to get the name of a precious mystery stone I'd gotten in an order of beads and recognized from one of your pieces.

Aghhhh!!! This is suppose to be a compliment? Is it coming across as a compliment? It's suppose to be one! I do really adore your work, really really do- and I would love to see a detail of one of the clusters of this necklace
>.<
but I feel bad not passing on my mother's observations and I hope that doesn't spoil the compliment? You really are tremendously talented.

Mmm, I actually didn't take a picture of the clusters, because I didn't feel like being biased and only take one or two... but if you're interested, I'll stop being avoidant and let them duke it out over which gets to camwhore.

Actually, I'm really happy you took the time to give me your mother's feedback as well as your own! It's very helpful, in fact. I may yet try to take a picture of it on a display, but I didn't before because this piece is kinda Big for most displays. @_@;; I did pick up a nice Venus display recently, but one side of the necklace would stick out of the edge, which is augh.

Awww, yes, it's very complimentary. I'll try to grab a close-up later. XD

Sweet! I am really looking forward to that :') May the most determined cluster win~

I don't know if you've ever seen them, but the Sears by my house used to have these bloody MASSIVE glass displays, frosted green/blue glass, Neck/shoulders. They're closing down their stores in Canada, so you might be able to buy one of the online for a good price. I'm not sure the size of your pieces but it would keep even my biggest ones on so if you can find one it might work for you?

Hm. I'm actually going to be in Canada in about a week. I might check it out then, but I don't really want to lug a massive display home... XD
